I never thought I’d see the day, but it seems skinny jeans are making a comeback — at least, if Kate Middleton has anything to say about it.
In April, the Princess of Wales got back to her millennial roots by ditching baggy denim cuts in favor of brown skinny jeans during a visit to Scotland with Prince William. She teamed the slim-fit pants style with a coordinating brown blazer and matching lace-up boots, and she added a pop of color to the look with a baby blue button-down shirt.
While I consider myself to be a wide-leg jeans purist, Kate’s look definitely moved the needle on my style radar. I can see skinny jeans being great for more active occasions, like when you don’t want a surplus of fabric getting in the way of walking or running errands. Plus, her look proved that the skinny style can easily feel modern and fresh when worn with the right pieces — in this case, a polished blazer and a button-down.
