Katy Perry’s US Tour Kicks Off Thursday Night! It Even Includes a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ Aspect

  • The US leg of Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour concert kicks off tonight in Houston
  • The singer is inviting fans to vote on a song they want to hear via a QR code, with each continent getting a different album to choose from
  • She also hopes to bring fans onstage at the shows for more interactive moments

Katy Perry is bringing her Lifetimes Tour to the US tonight, kicking off in Houston at the Toyota Center — and fans will get a chance to be a part of the interactive event.

At each show, audience members will be able to scan a QR code that leads to one of Perry’s seven studio albums, and they’ll get to vote on which deep-cut song they most want her to play. Each continent she performs at gets their own album to choose from.

She also plans on inviting fans onstage for more interactive fun. At her kick-off show in Mexico City last week, she even made a joke about her recent trip to space after she posed onstage with two fans in NASA-branded suits to take a selfie, noting, “I want these gentlemen to come on stage because they are dressed like my most current timeline.”

The current tour covers 80 shows, and will take Perry through several more cities in the US after the May 7 Houston gig. Then she’s heading to Australia in early June, and back to Canada and the US for more North American dates throughout the summer. She’ll then take the show to Europe, before concluding with a stop in China and one final show in Abu Dhabi in early December.

And even though Perry is busy with her tour, she’s made sure to break for a little fun.

On Monday, April 28, two days after wrapping up her shows in Mexico City, she attended Lady Gaga’s Sunday night concert in Mexico City at Estadio GNP Seguros.

“Show was MAGINIFCA! The dress! The sand! Every moment was theee moment,” Perry posted on her Instagram Stories with a picture of Gaga, 39. “So proud of you and grateful to grow up together @ladygaga Love u.”

While Perry is busy on tour, she had to miss this year’s Met Gala, despite often being a familiar face on the red carpet. Explaining her absence, she took to social media, posting an AI generated pic that made it look like she was there.

“Couldn’t make it to the MET, I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL‼️),” Katy wrote on May 6 in the caption that accompanied photos. Noting that her AI-generated photos last year even fooled her own mother, she added, “P.s. this year I was actually with my mom so she’s safe from the bots but I’m praying for the rest of y’all.”
