Keke Palmer Shares Excitement to ‘Relive’ Her Childhood and Bring Son Leodis, 2, to See a Shrek Movie in Theaters

Keke Palmer is excited to share the world of Shrek with her son.

During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the One of Them Days actress, 31, shared her excitement for the upcoming Shrek 5 film. Palmer, who is a mother to 2-year-old Leodis, said to host Jennifer Hudson and fellow guest Eddie Murphy that she “cannot wait to relive this moment with my son.”

“I grew up watching Shrek movies, and now I get to take him to a Shrek movie,” she explained.

Palmer welcomed her son with ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson in February 2023. A few months after welcoming her son, the Nope star told PEOPLE that life is “always a juggling act” as she navigates motherhood and her demanding career as an actress, musician and business owner.

“I do feel like being 30, it’s put me in a different head space that’s allowed me to kind of feel more observational about my life,” she said. “I’m not so in the weeds of everything. I’m really trusting and having faith that everything will work out as it should. I think so much of that peace has come from my son.”

The proud mom is relishing in everything that comes with motherhood. She told PEOPLE in 2024 that she’s “just having fun watching him grow.”

“I’m very grateful to be able to have this experience,” she said. “I think it’s something that I’ve always wanted in my life. And even though it has its … I don’t wanna even say ups and downs, but it has its challenges just because you wanna make sure that you always show up for the baby.”

“It pushes you, in a way, to be an even more precise version of yourself,” she continued. “And, I think that that’s the process.”

On Thursday, Jan. 16, Palmer shared on Late Night with Seth Meyers that her son may be starting to take an interest in singing. Palmer was all smiles, as she called his singing “the cutest thing in the world.”

When Meyers asked her if it’s too early to know if Leodis is a good singer, Palmer quickly responded that her son has an “absolutely perfect pitch.”

The Password game show host also added that she hopes her son might want to pursue an entertainment career one day. She said that in a perfect world, in 30 years, Leo would pick up her mantle as the new host of the game show.

“I just love that idea of the family business,” she said. “But, if he grows up and says he wants to play baseball, I got to let it happen.”
