King Charles III Is All Smiles in Tuxedo at London Premiere Amid Mounting Prince Harry Feud

King Charles III stepped out to attend a premiere amid his feud with son Prince Harry.

Charles, 76, looked dapper in a tuxedo as he attended the world premiere of Ocean With David Attenborough on Tuesday, May 6. While at the event held inside London’s The Royal Festival Hall, Charles was all smiles as he posed with David Attenborough.

Charles’ appearance comes days after Harry sat down with BBC News for a bombshell interview where he discussed their ongoing rift and the monarch’s cancer battle. (Charles was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer in February 2024.)

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry, 40, told the outlet on Friday, May 2. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”

Prince Harry’s recent comments about King Charles III likely didn’t land in the palace, royal experts speculated. “I think it will confirm the king’s view that he is not to be trusted. The previous attempts by the Sussexes to monetize their royal connections led to the deep rift that exists,” royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told […]

The Duke of Sussex claimed that Charles “won’t speak” to him amid his recent legal battle. (Harry has been fighting to get back his and wife Meghan Markle’s government-funded security, which they lost when they left the royal family in 2020. Harry appeared in court in early April to appeal a 2024 decision, but U.K. Judge Sir Geoffrey Vos dismissed the appeal on Friday.)

“It would be nice to reconcile. There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family,” Harry said, noting that he has “forgiven” them.

Harry noted that he “can’t see a world” where he would bring Meghan and their two kids — son Archie, 6, and daughter Lilibet, 3 — back to the U.K.

“I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done,” he said.

Following Harry’s interview, Charles released a statement about unity. The royal family members “are much looking forward to all the week’s VE Day events,” a Buckingham Palace rep shared on Sunday, May 4. “They will unite with the rest of the nation and those across the Commonwealth and wider world in celebrating, commemorating and giving thanks to the wartime generation whose selfless devotion, duty and service should stand as an enduring example to us all — and must never be forgotten.”

King Charles III and Prince Harry face an uphill — and potential impossible – battle in ever reaching a reconciliation amid their ongoing years-long feud. The father-son rift arguably hit an all-time low last week, when Harry said in a BBC News interview that cancer-stricken Charles, 76, “won’t speak with me,” adding “I don’t know how […]

In the aftermath of Harry’s comments, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams exclusively told Us Weekly that his remarks may have worsened the feud with Charles.

“I think it will confirm the king’s view that he is not to be trusted. The previous attempts by the Sussexes to monetize their royal connections led to the deep rift that exists,” Fitzwilliams told Us. “His comments on the monarch’s health are unlikely to have gone down well either.”

Royal expert Christopher Andersen echoed Fitzwilliams’ thoughts. “If Harry really wants to reconcile with his family, he has an odd way of showing it,” Andersen noted to Us, referencing Harry’s recent U.K. security trial.

Anderson noted that Charles’ No. 1 priority is focusing on his health. “If Charles had any inclination to reach out to Harry — and I haven’t seen any movement in that direction over the past two years — then he certainly has no reason to reach out now,” he added. “I hate to say it, but I seriously doubt that the relationship between the King and Prince Harry will ever be resolved. There is just too much bitterness there, too many burned bridges.”
