Kristen Stewart is starting the new year with her wife, Dylan Meyer, by her side.

Meyer and Stewart held hands as they posed for photos on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of The Chronology of Water held at 2220 Arts + Archives on Thursday, Jan. 8.

The Chronology of Water marks Stewart’s debut as a writer and director and the married couple’s first time working together since they tied the knot in April 2025. Meyer worked on the film as a producer.

To mark the special occasion, Stewart wore a black-and-white one-piece swimsuit by Chanel, per Vogue. She paired the look with baggy black trousers and platform shoes. Stewart added silver jewelry as an accessory.

Meyer, meanwhile, wore a white graphic tee with black mini shorts and a Thom Browne top coat, W reported. She wore the look with burgundy colored tights and Doc Martens.

The Chronology of Water is an adaptation of author Lidia Yuknvavitch’s 2011 memoir of the same name.

According to an official synopsis, the movie follows Imogen Poots as “a young woman who finds escape from an abusive home through competitive swimming in the 1980s.”

“After her athletic dreams are derailed, she navigates love, loss, addiction, sexuality, and her own self-destructive impulses while discovering her voice, and healing, through the transformative act of writing,” the synopsis continues.

Last November, Stewart told PEOPLE that her directorial debut taught her “that there are emotions that can diminish the point in environments that are not conducive to listening to women.”

“It’s okay to be emotional, and it’s fun to be angry when you can turn it into something productive and beautiful,” continued Stewart. “If you find the right people to surround yourself with, you don’t have to put a muzzle on. All of those ideas are translated through cumulative effort.”

“I think maybe I always knew this, but you can’t make a movie alone and when you find the right people to do it with, everything’s okay,” she said.
