Kristin Cavallari’s past isn’t completely behind her.
On the June 11 episode of Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, the reality star, 38, offered a look into her relationship with ex Mark Estes. While he was slated to appear on one of her live podcast stops, Cavallari found herself scrambling when he changed his mind with little notice.
“My ex boyfriend Mark Estes originally agreed to be on my second episode, as well as Harry Jowsey from Too Hot to Handle,” she explained. “But, Talan [Torriero] decided to group text message on Instagram both Harry and Mark.”
Estes canceled his appearance because he didn’t want to share the stage.
Cavallari was doing back-to-back shows that night, and her former Laguna Beach costars, including ex Talan Torriero, were her first guests. Estes, 24, and Jowsey, 28, were scheduled for the other taping.
“Mark had no idea that Harry was coming,” Cavallari revealed. “It was a huge blow to his ego and he’s not coming now.”
She also noted that “the whole theme” of the night was people who have a history on her podcast, making Estes’ absence “tough.”
Luckily, Cavallari’s 8th grade boyfriend Johnny — the person she lost her virginity to — was already going to be at the show and stepped in for the Montana Boyz TikToker.
Cavallari confessed her taste in partners has not served her well in the past.
The next day, Cavallari was reflecting on the show, expressing disappointment in how both Torriero and Johnny “trashed” her in front of the audience. Meanwhile, she was gushing over Jowsey, who teased that he wished he had kissed her after she sent him a photo wearing lingerie.
“I know that Harry is an absolute player, and I know, I did the young thing, okay?” she joked. “I dated a 24-year-old. Historically, the guys that I’m attracted to are not the types of guys I should be with long-term.”
“Talon wasn’t wrong,” she added of a comment he made about her romantic life in recent years. “I mean, since my divorce, I’ve been thinking with my chi chi!”
Later, Cavallari revealed that Estes had still been reaching out to her. “Last night, during the show, Mark texted me, ‘How’s everything going?’” she told her friends. “And then he just texted me, ‘I miss you.’”
The Hills alum, who was previously married to Jay Cutler for seven years, announced that she and Estes went their separate ways last fall. Citing their 13-year age gap and her being a mother to the three children she shares with Cutler, Cavallari insisted there was no bad blood between them.
“Mark and I broke up,” she told listeners with a sigh. “It’s hard because I broke up with Mark because I just know long-term it’s not right, and it’s not because of love lost or something bad happened.”
“He’s been the best boyfriend I’ve ever had,” she said of Estes. “I just know long-term he needs to experience life, he’s young… I started to feel the age a little bit with life experience,” she shared. “I look back when I was 24 and how much life has happened between then, those are crucial years, those are formative years, they’re when you find yourself and he needs to be able to do that.”
