Kylie Kelce plans to use her brother-in-law Travis Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift to help her procure her next family pet.
The 33-year-old mother of four has been talking about wanting a cat for years, but has noted that her husband, Jason Kelce, is strongly against the idea, even going so far as to tell their daughters that cats are “poisonous.”
However, after Swift’s appearance on Jason and Travis’ New Heights podcast on Aug. 13, Kylie opened up on her Not Gonna Lie podcast on Aug. 14 about how Swift’s upcoming orange-themed album, The Life of a Showgirl, could help her in the long run.
“We also got this question from Real One Grace Davis: Orange album? Jason Kelce, in honor of the new album, you should buy Kylie Kelce, an orange tabby cat,” Kylie said, reading the fan-submitted comment. “I’m just saying your girls will love it.”
Kylie was a fan of this plan, saying, “Great idea. Let’s slide the cat in there. We’ll bait and switch Jason. We’ll show them like, ‘Oh my gosh. Woah. You guys are breaking the Internet with your podcast!’ Boom. Cat in the house. He’ll never know. Outstanding. No notes.”
But Kylie admitted that she doesn’t actually think that the family is any closer to getting a pet cat.
“I don’t think the cat dream is any closer to coming true,” she said. “I think we’re probably a little ways out from the cat. But like I’ve said before, we’re in this for the long game. There will be a cat in our future.”
The topic of a Kelce family cat also came up during the New Heights episode with Swift when Travis asked his girlfriend of two years how she felt about Jason telling his daughters Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finn, 4 months, that cats were poisonous.
“It was actually really a great challenge because as soon as I got the kids around the cats, it was my goal to prove to them that they weren’t poisonous,” Swift said, referencing her three cats — Meredith, Olivia and Benjamin. “And there’s no better way to prove that than to just hand them Benjamin, my ragdoll cat, who lets humans hold him like he’s a baby. And, I mean, like, my favorite thing ever is just like when Benny will come up to me and just go, ‘I find Benjamin. I find him.’ And she’s just, like, over there just, like, laying with him and petting him and holding him.”
Swift added that her cats are “so good” with Jason and Kylie’s daughters.
“They’re like dragging, they’re just like, ‘Meredith is here!’ I’m like, ‘Yep. And you know what? She didn’t bite you at all, did she?’ “ Swift said. “ ‘No. She didn’t.’ ‘And if she did bite you, she wouldn’t be poisonous.’ They’re like, ‘That’s not what our dad said.’ I’m like, ‘Well, I heard you’re getting a cat. I heard this from a very well-placed source.’ ”
Jason admitted, “There’s a chance I’ve been talked into a barn cat that does not go inside that will survive off of rodents in the field.”
“Those girls are going to be sneaking that cat into the bed every single night,” Swift assured him.
The retired NFL star insisted that he’s allergic to cats, which Swift didn’t buy.
“I’ve had an allergy test, Taylor!” Jason said.
“Allegedly, I’d like to see a copy of it,” Swift replied. “I think you just don’t like cats.”
Jason and Kylie recently said goodbye to their two Irish wolfhounds, Winnie and Baloo. Back in March, Kylie shared her plan to get a cat, saying on her podcast, “One day, I’m just going to take our kids to the local rescue, and I’m going to pick out a cat, and then I’m going to bring the cat home. I’m gonna full-commit [and adopt], then I’m going to make sure it’s a day or two where he’s not home, traveling.”
