Lacey Chabert said a fan recently stopped her for an unexpected reason — and she revealed why the encounter “meant so much.”
During the latest PEOPLE in 10 interview, the actress, 43, shared that she recently had an extra special exchange with a fan.
“I recently signed a playbill from when I was in Les Miserables,” she explained. “I was in the show on Broadway from 1991 to ’94. I played young Cosette and young Éponine, and I understudied young Gavroche, which I got to play unexpectedly on my 10th birthday.”

“And I had a lovely fan come up to me and have me sign the playbill. They realized that they had saved it, and it was from the time I was in the show. It meant so much to me. It brings back the best memories. I love the show so much,” she said.
Created by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, the iconic musical first became a major success in London before arriving on Broadway in New York City in 1987.
The original Broadway production — starring Colm Wilkinson as Valjean and Terrence Mann as Javert — won eight Tony Awards — including Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Direction of a Musical.
Chabert went on to say that her typical fan interactions often involve callbacks to another of her famous projects: 2004’s Mean Girls, in which she played Gretchen Wieners, a popular girl and member of “The Plastics.”
“I mean, of course, if I find myself wearing pink on a Wednesday, everyone’s like, ‘Hey, wearing pink,’ ” she said, referring to one of the iconic rules of the popular group.

“Or if I’m wearing pink, and it’s not a Wednesday, I get in big trouble,” she joked.
The mom of one added that she frequently hears one of her most famous lines from the film quoted back to her.
“People stop and say, ‘That’s so fetch.’ People used to say that to me a lot, and my daughter — when she was really little — she didn’t understand it ’cause she hadn’t seen the movie yet. And then once she finally saw it, she’s like, ‘That’s why people say that to you when we’re out at a restaurant. ‘Oh, I get it.’ ”
Chabert also opened up about her most recent project, the Hallmark+ limited series Paris Is Always a Good Idea, based on the novel of the same name by Jenn McKinlay.
“It was exciting to do a limited series, because we have six episodes to delve into the story and into the journey of the characters,” she said while telling PEOPLE about the project.

“And my character, Chelsea, goes on this pretty epic adventure of revisiting three past relationships from her life, and while doing so, she really revisits and confronts the version of herself of who she was in those moments in her life … it’s a beautiful, sweeping romance,” she added, noting that they shot in Ireland, Paris and Spain.
