Law and Order: Organized Crime Season 6: What We Know So Far About the Chris Meloni-Led Show

NEED TO KNOW

  • Law & Order: Organized Crime moved from NBC to Peacock for its latest season
  • The Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 finale aired on June 12
  • News about the procedural show having a season 6 is still up in the air

Is Law & Order: Organized Crime “dun-dun” done?

The latest Law & Order spinoff, which premiered in April 2021, follows Christopher Meloni as he reprises his role of detective Elliot Stabler, which he first played on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit from 1999 to 2011. (Meloni later guest starred on the series.)

On Law & Order: Organized Crime, Stabler joined the New York Police Department’s Organized Crime Control Bureau to infiltrate the world of seedy crime syndicates, including some that wish to seek revenge on him and his family. The series first debuted on NBC, but switched to Peacock for its fifth season.

The latest installment of Law & Order: Organized Crime featured Stabler working on cases concerning cross-border smuggling and high-tech domestic terrorism. Not only did season 5 take the action to streaming, but it also showcased the highly anticipated reunion between Stabler and his longtime friend and former partner, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay).

So now that season 5 is over, has Law & Order: Organized Crime been renewed? Here’s everything to know about what’s next for Stabler, and if he will be back to take down more crime bosses.

Will there be a season 6 of Law & Order: Organized Crime?

Law & Order: Organized Crime has not been officially renewed for a sixth season.

In the past, Organized Crime was approved for new installments during the springtime, around April and May. Most recently, the series got the green light for season 5 in May 2024, with it returning the following year, in April 2025.

While fans wait to hear about Organized Crime‘s future, plenty of Law & Order is still ahead.

Both the flagship series, Law & Order, and Law & Order: SVU have been renewed for NBC’s 2025-2026 season. Law & Order will return for its 25th season, while SVU is back for season 27, with Hargitay as Benson, who is now the longest-running primetime drama character in television history.

According to NBC, both shows together “reached more than 44 million viewers across linear and digital platforms this season.”

When will Law & Order: Organized Crime season 6 come out?

Since Law & Order: Organized Crime has not yet been officially renewed, it’s unclear when fans will see the Stabler brothers back on their screens.

The first four seasons of the spinoff aired on NBC, but the series moved over to Peacock for its fifth installment, which debuted on April 17. The 10-episode season ended on June 12.

When the shift to Peacock was announced, Deadline reported that the ratings for Organized Crime were “below” those of other Dick Wolf shows airing on NBC, but the series was “doing well” on the streamer.

When asked how Organized Crime might be different on streaming, Meloni told NBC there would probably be a “couple more curse words” and a “little more edge.”

Who is in the Law & Order: Organized Crime season 6 cast?

If Law & Order: Organized Crime returns for a sixth season, it will most certainly star Meloni, since the series is centered around his character, Stabler.

Other actors on the crime procedural include Danielle Moné Truitt, Ainsley Seiger and Rick Gonzalez. Breaking Bad star Dean Norris joined Organized Crime in season 4, playing Elliot’s brother, Randall.

In addition to starring in the latest Law & Order spinoff, Meloni co-wrote an episode for season 5, which featured an appearance by Hargitay, who reprised her beloved character, Benson.

In August 2024, Meloni told PEOPLE that writing the episode “is awesome, but it’s responsibility so I don’t want to mess it up.”

Where can I watch Law & Order: Organized Crime?

All five seasons of Law & Order: Organized Crime are available to stream on Peacock.
