Lisa Barlow has glam on retainer — and now she has her eldest son, Jack, back at home following his mission trip to Colombia.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, 50, shared an Instagram Story on Monday, June 9, that showed her and husband John Barlow on their way to the airport to pick up Jack, 20, from the airport with a giant bunch of balloons. (The couple also share son Henry, 13, who was along for the ride.)
“Jack is on a flight on his way home from Colombia right now,” Lisa told her followers. “We are so excited to get him. It’s been the fastest and longest two years, like, all at the same time.”
In another video, Lisa filmed Jack draped in a Colombian flag as he greeted friends who’d also recently returned from missions. “Look who’s home!” Lisa exclaimed before hinting there’d be a welcome-home party for Jack. “Come to our place!”
A third video showed Jack posing with several friends who’d made him a sign reading, “Welcome home EBG (Elder Baby Gorgeous).” An elder in the Mormon church is the introductory office of the priesthood, while Baby Gorgeous is, of course, the nickname Lisa famously bestowed upon her younger son in an episode of RHOSLC.
Jack has been in the South American country since late 2023 completing a Mormon missionary trip. Mormon missionaries spend up to two years in a location assigned by church officials, doing volunteer work and proselytizing.
As RHOSLC viewers saw in season 4, the Barlow family was shocked when Jack told them he planned to postpone college and complete a mission trip. “When he told us, I was crying because I haven’t been involved in the process,” Lisa told her husband in a September 2023 episode of the Bravo series. “I think I’m still dealing with the emotion that I had no idea, and he’s been prepping for a year, and then it makes me think that maybe he does need more time with me, or maybe he just wants less.”
Lisa and her family learned that Jack would be going to Bogotá during a “mission reveal” party in an October 2023 episode of RHOSLC. At the soiree, she told attendees that she’d been “expecting, like, Europe or something, or New York.” During a confessional interview, the Vida Tequila founder admitted she was nervous about Jack’s assignment.
“I cannot believe he’s going to Colombia,” she said. “He’ll probably be held up at gunpoint at least once or twice on his mission. My friend’s son was just there. He was held up at gunpoint, like, weekly, so he carried, like, an extra few bucks in pocket and just, like, handed it over. He’s like, ‘OK, I see the gun, here’s the cash.’ But I mean, overall, it’s thrilling.”
