Love Is Blind’s Monica Claims Sara Told Her She and Joey Were ‘Seeing Each Other’ Despite Public Denial

While Love Is Blind star Sara Carton has publicly denied that she’s dating costar Joey Levielle, his ex-fiancée, Monica Danús, says differently.

“I’m so sick of the lies. Just own up to it at this point,” Monica, 28, told Elite Daily in an interview published on Tuesday, March 18. “I texted Sara [before the reunion], ‘I’m hearing a lot of things about you and Joey. Is there anything you need to tell me?’ And she called me and said, ‘Nothing’s official, but we are seeing each other.’”

According to Monica, Sara, 29, allegedly revealed that she and Joey, 36, “didn’t want to make anything official until any online hate dies down.”

“She told me this started a month ago, so that’s at least two months ago now. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was longer,” Monica alleged. “All this time when I was venting to her about Joey and she was saying she had my back, she was actually with him.”

Sara, meanwhile, has publicly denounced the dating speculation on multiple occasions.

“To be clear, me and Joey are not dating,” Sara said on the “Viall Files” podcast earlier in March, noting she only started speaking to Joey five months after production wrapped. “[Joey] and five other people visited me in Nashville and we called ourselves the ‘Yee-Haw Crew,’ like, it’s such a good time. We grew really, really close with each other just because of the support for each other, knowing what we’ve all been through and being able to be there for one another. It’s been super important to me.”

She added, “This whole situation, I’ve felt very close with Joey. I’m fond of our relationship, but I [also] feel very well-supported by all those involved. I’m just very grateful that I’ve met him, but, yeah, we definitely have a friendship. We’re definitely not dating.”

While Sara played coy about whether she’d date Joey down the line, she stressed that she had “no capacity to even think about” being in a relationship at the moment. (Sara similarly shut down the dating rumors in a since-expired Instagram Story upload on Tuesday. Joey also denied the reports during a Sunday, March 16, appearance on the “Curious Crossroads” podcast, noting he and Sara “discussed” if there’s any dating potential. “Ultimately, we just decided, I don’t think either of us are in the capacity to do that right now,” he added. “We’re not dating.”)

Monica, however, believes Sara and Joey are in a secret romance, claiming to the outlet that it is a “betrayal.”

“It’s very hurtful,” Monica told Elite Daily. “It’s no surprise from Joey — I don’t think very highly of him, and I don’t want him in my life. But I’m hurt that Sara would do this to me.”

Monica and Joey were engaged throughout the duration of Love Is Blind season 8, ultimately breaking up on their would-be wedding day. Sara, meanwhile, similarly called it quits with fiancé Ben Mezzenga at the altar. According to Sara, she and Ben, 28, tried to date post-show before he ghosted her. He denied the accusations.
