Taylor Rue is officially a mom!
The 28-year-old, who appeared on season 5 of Love Is Blind, has welcomed her first baby with her boyfriend Cameron Shelton, a rep for Rue confirms exclusively to PEOPLE. Carson Wayne Shelton was born on Wednesday, April 23, at 10:55 p.m., weighing 7 lbs., 11 oz. and measuring 20 inches long.
“I can’t believe I made it 28 years without this type of love in my life,” Rue tells PEOPLE. “He is our whole world and we couldn’t be happier.”
“His middle name is after my dad, the man that taught me how to be loved,” she adds.

Back in October, Rue shared exclusively with PEOPLE that she was pregnant, which was extra special news after the couple experienced a pregnancy loss earlier that year.
“Cam and I are expecting a new addition to our family! Baby Shelton coming in April,” Rue told PEOPLE.
“Words truly can’t express how excited Cam and I are for this next chapter of our lives! The past few months of our lives have had a lot of ups and downs but one thing never changed — our love for each other and our faith,” she continued.
“After miscarrying, we decided that we weren’t going to put pressure on trying again. We were just going to enjoy each other and help each other heal. And that’s exactly what we did! A few months passed and we decided to go grab a test at 10 pm one night and it was positive!”
“We were so in shock and so happy. We found out on National Rainbow Baby day,” Rue shared. “I know that God has a purpose behind every single of one his plans. Of course, we are nervous for what’s to come! Who wouldn’t, be but the excitement outweighs the anxiety immensely.”
Rue left Love Is Blind single after having a “hurtful” conversation with her former fiancé JP Pierce, but announced last October on her Instagram that she’d met someone new.
Posting a photo with her new boyfriend, Shelton, Rue wrote, “found my plus one,” in the caption.
This past summer, Rue shared that she had experienced a miscarriage in a post on her Instagram. Sharing a video from her first doctor’s appointment, Rue opened up about the difficult news in her caption.
“This was our first appointment where we got to see our baby that made us parents. We couldn’t wait to share the news of our pregnancy with everyone, but now we are sharing very different news. I pray and feel for any family that goes through this,” Rue began.
“It went from ‘Mom, there’s a heartbeat’ to ‘there is no heartbeat’ within weeks. Cam and I are devastated and heartbroken. Only time will heal the pain we feel,” she continued. “We know that God’s plan is so much greater than ours and that baby S is in heaven looking down on us.”
“Baby S will forever be in our hearts 👼🏻🕊️🍓,” Rue concluded her caption.
