Madonna Bares Her Nipples and Drapes Herself in Lace for Racy Photo Shoot

The Queen of Pop is CR Fashion Book‘s newest cover star!

Madonna made her debut on not one but seven different covers of CR Fashion Book. The upcoming issue 26, titled Behind the Scenes, will be available March 24 and will tell the singer’s story through curated looks and photos — characterized by red accents, black lace and gothic elements throughout.

In the issue’s imagery, the singer wears looks from Dolce & Gabbana, Swarovski, Jean-Paul Gaultier, vintage Hermès, Maison Margiela, Gucci, Chanel, Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton, the release stated. The edition will also feature a “tribute pictorial” made from wigs, jewelry and shoes, made by Roberto Greco, as well as a second editorial in honor of Madonna titled Madame X.

Carine Roitfeld, stylist, founder and editor-in-chief of CR Fashion Book, shared that the essence of the upcoming issue “began with Madonna.”

“It was beautiful to witness the special relationship between Steven Klein and her [Madonna] during that night at the cemetery,” she said. “They’re both really hard workers and unstoppable creatives.”

Roitfeld added, “You can have the same model in the same outfit with a different team, and it would be totally different.”

Madonna’s story titled Funeral Rites will accompany imagery curated by Roitfeld and photographer Steven Klein.

Photos from the shoot include Madonna in gothic, effortlessly stylish looks, staged in a cemetery. The singer approaches a grave in opaque sunglasses and all black — save for a Jean-Paul Gaultier trench coat — with a bouquet of red flowers in hand, before laying on the grave itself.

In an excerpt of her story, published to the CR Fashion Book site on Feb. 26, Madonna spins her history with an undertone of death — her mother’s death, her fear of her father eventually dying, staging ritualistic burials for her estranged lovers and the draw of other people’s graves.

“A distraught widow, overcome with grief, drives up in a vintage black Cadillac with tinted windows,” reads another excerpt from Funeral Rites. “There’s a small handgun in her bag, which is open on the seat of the car. She’s a mess. A woman in distress. She lights a cigarette. There are legal papers on the floor.”
