Makeup Influencer Mikayla Nogueira Confirms Spouse Cody Is in Rehab after Months of Speculation: ‘I Feel I Had Lost My Husband’

Influencer Mikayla Nogueira is sharing an update on her husband Cody Hawken, who fans noted has been absent from social media.

On Friday, April 4, the 26-year-old makeup artist and influencer posted a lengthy video on TikTok to address speculation from her followers.

“My husband Cody is in rehab and I’m ready to talk about it,” Nogueira opened the video.

While doing her makeup, she added, “Cody’s story is not mine to share, but he has given me his blessing to talk about it today.”

Before getting into the details, Nogueira, who has been married to Hawken since July 2023, stated that she was “incredibly proud” of her husband. “It takes an immense amount of courage to give up your will and enter treatment,” she said.

“As many of you have noticed for the last several months, Cody really has not been around, and now you know why, a lot of you have put two and two together,” she explained.

Nogueira noted that her news would not come as a surprise to her longtime followers, as he “has struggled with addiction from a very young age” and shared his own story on TikTok in the past.

The news also didn’t come as a surprise to Nogueira, who said Hawken was an addict when they met but had been living sober.

“Understand sobriety, recovery is not linear. Addiction is a disease, and it’s very complex, and unless you yourself or someone very close to you has struggled with addiction, it’s hard to understand relapsing is a part of the recovery process, not a failure,” she continued.

She shared that Hawken relapsed twice last year — first on drugs in January, then on alcohol in April.

“I am not new to addiction or addicts, but what I am new to is marrying one,” Nogueira said, adding that putting on “a brave face” was “the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.”

Continuing to share her experience, Nogueira said addiction impacts all of the person’s loved ones, not just the individual.

For her, 2024 had “some of the scariest nights” of her life, sometimes making phone calls to police to help Hawken.

“I’m talking calling the police because I’m scared my husband’s gonna die. To anyone who has had a spouse or a family member who struggles with addiction, you know what I mean when I say I didn’t know who that person was anymore, I felt like I had lost my husband,” she said, fighting back tears.

Eventually, she “had to make a really difficult decision to remove Cody” from their home. He got his own apartment, but Nogueira emotionally said she secretly kept a key in case he overdosed and no one was able to get into his residence.

She added that while it’s “easy to judge addicts,” Hawken “is the kindest, sweetest, most selfless, intelligent person I’ve ever met.”

In a follow-up TikTok video, Nogueira said she talks to Hawken via FaceTime “just about every day” and that he’s “making so much progress in rehab.” She also thanked her followers for their support.

Nogueira said once her husband is done with his treatment, she’ll be “waiting for him with open arms.”

“I think many of us are very proud of Cody 🥺💜proud of you too,” one of her fellow influencers wrote in the comments.
