A father and two sons have been identified as the three family members who died near an Amtrak station in Pennsylvania and authorities say that one of the brothers died by suicide.
On Thursday, April 3, a high-speed Amtrak train traveling from Boston to Richmond, Va., struck and killed three people on the tracks, Bristol Borough Police Department Chief Joe Moors said in a previous press conference.
The three men were identified by the Bucks County Coroner’s Office as dad Christopher Cramp, 56, and his sons David Cramp, 31, and Thomas Cramp, 24, according to a Bucks County Coroner’s Office release obtained by PEOPLE on Friday, April 4. Christopher and David’s deaths were ruled as accidents, while Thomas died by suicide.
Christopher and David were trying to stop Thomas at the time of the collision, officials reportedly said according to ABC affiliate WPVI-TV.
The Bristol Borough Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Speaking at the press conference, Moors said that officers had already been dispatched to the station and were already “starting to head up on the railroad tracks” near Beaver and Prospect streets at the time of the incident.
“This is an absolute tragedy,” Moors added.

In a news conference on Friday, April 4, Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia said that Christopher, the boys’ father, was “an adored member of our staff,” a volunteer firefighter and also worked as an outreach coordinator, helping people with mental health issues, according to NBC Philadelphia.
