An early-morning rush to work took a painful turn for one man when he slipped on black ice and tumbled down a flight of outdoor stairs — just as he was heading out to assist with spine surgery.
The startling moment was captured on a Ring doorbell camera outside his home in Puyallup, Wash., on March 10. In the footage, the man steps onto the icy staircase before suddenly losing his footing and sliding down more than seven steps.
According to details shared with ViralHog, the fall happened as he was leaving for his shift at a nearby spine surgery center. What began as a routine commute quickly turned into a frightening ordeal.
“A Ring doorbell camera captured me slipping on black ice while leaving my house early in the morning on my way to work,” he said.
The man described the tumble as abrupt and completely unexpected, with the slick surface sending him sliding all the way to the bottom before he could react. Despite the dramatic fall, he said he was able to get back up on his own.
“I slipped and slid down more than seven steps before reaching the bottom,” he added. “The fall happened suddenly and was completely unexpected.”
Fortunately, the close call did not result in serious injuries — a relief given the irony of nearly hurting his own back while en route to help care for someone else’s.
