Maren Morris is thinking of her ex-husband, Ryan Hurd, on Father’s Day.
“Happy Father’s Day,” Morris, 35, wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, June 15, alongside a throwback photo of Hurd, 38, holding son Hayes in the hospital.
Morris and Hurd welcomed son Hayes in 2020, sharing she underwent an emergency C-section at the time. “I learned pretty quickly that night that having a plan for bringing a human into the world is a fool’s errand,” she wrote via Instagram. “All that mattered was that he got here safely.”
Three years later, Us Weekly confirmed that Morris filed for divorce from Hurd after five years of marriage. The exes finalized their divorce in 2024, splitting joint custody of Hayes. Since then, Morris shared that she and Hurd have found their groove when it comes to coparenting.

“We’re over a year out now … [and] we get along now and have moved past a lot of it,” Morris recalled of her divorce during an episode of the “Dear Chelsea” podcast earlier this month. “We’re neighbors, and I’m just so fortunate that we have put our son above each other’s s***, and it’s better for the two of us if we’re getting along.”
Morris reflected that she’s “lucky” she and Hurd “love each other so much still,” adding, “We have the highest respect, but also there is that devastation that two people [who] love each other that much can’t make it work in the real world. It’s always going to be multifaceted. I think, ultimately, we both knew it was probably going to be better this way, which is a success.”
Morris publicly came out as bisexual following her divorce from Hurd. In 2024, Morris shared that she was dipping her toe in the dating pool “a little bit.”
“I mean, I’ve never really dated,” Morris said during an appearance on the “Chicks in the Office” podcast. “Like, I’ve been in two long, monogamous relationships with men, and I never really had this dating phase because I was just always working [and] I ended up with long relationships with people I worked with or had proximity to.”

She continued, “Dating for the first time, like, in your 30s is wild, and Raya is wild. Like, I’ve had some good experiences from it and, luckily, nothing crazy traumatizing.”
Morris admitted that she finds dating to be “exhausting.” She added, “I hate first dates. I’ll usually just, like, grab a drink with somebody because I don’t want to be stuck for two hours or three hours. [I] always have an out, whether it’s fake or not.”
While reflecting on the differences of dating men versus women, Morris noted that she gets “confused” about the line between being platonic or more than friends.
“Sometimes I just love a woman and we’re friends. Then she’s giving me a vibe of, like, she’s gonna kiss me, and I feel like we’re just friends, but I really connect with you on this emotionally deep level,” Morris explained on Betches’ “U Up?” podcast in May. “That’s where I sometimes have the hard delineation of romance versus friendship because women can connect so quickly and easily, which is a magical thing about us, but that’s the comparison, I guess, to dating men.”
