Max Greenfield Is ‘Not in Any Rush’ for a ‘New Girl’ Reunion: ‘At Some Point Something Will Happen’ (Exclusive)

While fans await a New Girl reunion, Max Greenfield admitted he is “not in any rush” to get the roommates back together.

“We’ll see what happens,” Greenfield, 45, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting his STEM partnership. “We see each other kind of often and who knows. The truth of the matter is it’s really not up to any of us.”

Greenfield noted that it is up to creator Elizabeth Meriwether to “have an idea,” adding, “And if she really wanted to do it, I would assume it would be through Disney. But I’m sure at some point something will happen.”

New Girl, which aired from 2011 to 2018, revolved around Jessica (Zooey Deschanel) moving into a Los Angeles loft with three men: Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Greenfield) and Winston Bishop (Lamorne Morris).

The gang’s all here! New Girl provided fans with laughs for days, but it also never failed to deliver some heartfelt moments. Most importantly, it introduced the world to some of the most lovable and quirky characters that have ever graced the small screen. Created by Elizabeth Meriwether, the comedic series ran for seven seasons on Fox […]

After the series ended, the cast has found ways to reunite on new projects.

“Zooey and I presented at the SAG Awards, and I thought it was such a nice moment,” Greenfield recalled to Us. “I had so much fun with her, and we had such a good time and we hadn’t connected in that way in a long, long time.”

He continued: “We had seen each other [in the past] but the idea of actually having to do something and represent the show felt really meaningful. I think the further away we get from the ending of the show, that reunion will mean all much more. So I’m not in any rush to do it.”

Greenfield’s career has continued to be on the rise since his time on New Girl. He immediately moved on with CBS’ The Neighborhood — where he remained for eight seasons.

“The truth of the matter is this will be our eighth and final season. When you look around, there’s so few … there’s no shows that go eight seasons anymore, and there may never be another one. We might be the last one,” he shared with Us. “So I’m genuinely not sad at all that this is ending and feel so grateful for the eight seasons that we were given.”

From The Handmaid’s Tale to Stranger Things, TV fans are gearing up to say goodbye to their favorite shows in 2025. The Handmaid’s Tale, which premiered on Hulu in 2017, is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name about a dystopian future. Due to low fertility rates, women were assigned to men for […]

Greenfield is excited to celebrate the sitcom after playing Dave since the show premiered, adding, “We’ve been through so much together. This show has made it through a pandemic. This show has made it through multiple writers and actor strikes. It’s been a real rollercoaster.”

The actor is thrilled for the fans to see the ending. “To have made it this far and to be in the position we’re at is just such a wonderful gift,” he continued. “And the ability to say goodbye in the way that we all want to, it is great. So I’m really excited to have a fun last season where everybody knows what the fate of the show is and have a good time with the people that I have already had such a good time with for the last seven plus years.”

In addition to The Neighborhood, Greenfield’s newest onscreen venture has him teamed up with Queer Eye’s Jeremiah Brent for a new campaign that puts a comedic twist on creating a calm and curated home through STEM’s discreet and design-friendly devices including the STEM Light Trap and Fan Trap.

“This is a really funny concept, which originally felt very connected to the things I do comedically. I knew Jeremiah was going to be involved — who I love and who I knew a little bit. The idea was that I was very bugged, which felt very close to what I did at New Girl and what I do well,” he told Us. “Look, everyone else seems to be annoyed by me in my life, so why not annoy Jeremiah?”

Greenfield added: “It was a product that I was very familiar with. We use it all the time in our house. My experience with these bugs is always the same. I’ve said this before, but I feel like they really are attracted to certain people. My wife and daughter — not a problem. They totally ignore them, and they don’t see it as an issue in their life. My son and myself are different. So we use all the STEM products in the house, and they’ve been really helpful for us.”
