Megan Thee Stallion Granted 5-Year Restraining Order Against Tory Lanez Following Testimony

Megan Thee Stallion has been granted a five-year restraining order against Tory Lanez.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the rapper, 29, (whose real name is Megan Pete) was granted a restraining order against 32-year-old Lanez (whose real name is Daystar Peterson) through Jan. 9, 2030.

Judge Richard Bloom confirmed the order on Thursday, Jan. 9 in the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County after Megan had “sustained burden of proof” in a compelling case, via Variety.

According to reporter Nancy Dillon, the judge cited “several uncontroverted facts,” including “conduct that culminated in [Tory Lanez] shooting approximately 5 rounds at petitioner that resulted in injuries to her.”

“I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time I won’t make it,” Megan said in court, according to reporter Meghann Cuniff.

The order is based on “unlawful violence, a credible threat of violence, or stalking,” the court docs state.

Megan had filed a restraining order against Lanez on Dec. 17, requesting that the Los Angeles Superior Court judge prevent Lanez from allegedly harassing Megan from prison through third parties while he serves a 10-year sentence in jail.

“Despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Ms. Pete, Mr. Peterson continues to subject her to repeated trauma and revictimization,” the court documents alleged.

Lanez responded to the suit on Dec. 24, accusing Megan of “weaponizing the justice system” in his own complaint.

“When celebrity with millions of dollars and backed by large corporation disagrees with free speech or opinions, they weaponize the justice system, failing to understand that they are public figures, who voluntarily catapulted themselves into the limelight, unable to deal with the controversy and public opinions,” the documents read in part.

Megan and Lanez’s complicated history dates back to July 2020 when he shot Megan in the feet in an incident that took place in the Hollywood Hills.

Lanez was charged with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle that October.

He was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence in December 2022 following a nine-day trial.

In August 2023, Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in jail.
