Meghan Markle and Billie Eilish Pull Off Epic Surprise for Teen Who Lost Everything in L.A. Fire

Meghan Markle and Billie Eilish are pros at pulling off memorable moments!

In a Tuesday, Feb. 4 Instagram post, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, revealed that she and the 23-year-old nine-time Grammy winner came together to help a teenage girl who lost everything in the recent Los Angeles wildfires.

“I was just told that something arrived that I have been waiting for,” the With Love, Meghan star said in a selfie video as she excitedly walked through her home.

Once in a room, she let out a sigh of relief after seeing a box filled with merch was waiting for her.

Meghan, who was born and raised in L.A. and now lives in Montecito, explained that “about two or three weeks ago,” she and her husband Prince Harry, 40, were in Altadena Calif., together and visited “a community where all the homes were left in ashes.”

Many Altadena residents lost their homes in the Eaton Fire, one of several wildfires that ravaged the L.A. area in early January.

She next shared that at the time, she met a mother who was surveying the damage of her home with her 15-year-old daughter.

“This mom had found a couple of things, [and] as I was talking to her, I turned around and I saw this young woman,” Meghan said, referring to the teen.

“She lives there and her mom shared something with me, and said that when they came back to see their house for the first time, which is as we were meeting them, that all she’d been looking for in her home was the T-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert that she had just gone to,” the Duchess of Sussex continued.

In the family’s hurry to evacuate, the teen had left the top in either the washing machine or dryer.

Meghan explained, “And of course they now see their home and the washing machine, their dryer, are ash. They’re not there anymore.”

The Duchess of Sussex admitted she did not know the “Birds of a Feather” singer personally but considered who among her friends and contacts might.

She shared, “And so I said, ‘I don’t know Billie Eilish. But I’m going to figure out how to get you this shirt.’ So I thought of everybody that I knew and I made a voice note and I was like, ‘Please, can someone get this voice note to Billie Eilish? Here’s what I’m asking.’”

While wearing her own stylish sweatshirt — one that featured the names of her and Harry’s two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, in cursive on her collar  — Meghan showed off what Eilish sent.

“You guys, I don’t even know what all this stuff means but it’s signed for her,” Meghan said as she showed merch with various designs.

Holding up a blue lunchbox with a gold star drawn on the front, she asked, “Is that a thing?”

After joking that she felt “really old,” Meghan sent a “huge thank you [to] Billie Eilish.”

“This is going to mean so much to her,” she continued, also thanking Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and his wife Behati Prinsloo for their help in getting “this over the line.”

She concluded: “To everyone who is showing up for people in big and small ways to get through what’s happened in California. Just thank you so much. I’m going to go and email her mom now. Just wanted to share that with you guys.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who live about 90 miles north of L.A., visited Pasadena on Jan. 10 to help distribute food and supplies to victims of the Eaton Fire. They also opened their Montecito home to evacuees and are working through their Archewell Foundation to support the community.

On Jan. 13, Meghan made a low-key visit to the Altadena Teen Girls Fire Recovery group, which was founded by 14-year-old Avery Colvert to collect essentials for teen girls affected by the fire. Meghan and Harry have supported the group through Archewell.

As the fire, which started on Jan. 7, continued to devastate the area, Meghan postponed the launch of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which had been set to premiere on Jan. 15. The new release date is March 4, with Netflix’s support.

“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” Meghan said in a statement.
