Meghan Markle Shares Photo of Archie on His 6th Birthday Amid Renewed Charles and Harry Drama

Meghan Markle is letting any renewed royal family drama stop her from celebrating son Archie’s sixth birthday.

“Our son. Our sun. Happy 6th birthday to Archie!” Meghan, 43, captioned an Instagram post on Tuesday, May 6. “Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six!”

She continued, “Where did the time go? (And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special).”

Meghan shared a photo of Archie standing on a balcony looking out over the body of water as the sun rose while he was wearing what appeared to be a pair of pajamas.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their first baby, a son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, in May 2019. “We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019,” the pair wrote on Instagram. “Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs […]

The Suits alum welcomed Archie with husband Prince Harry in May 2019 at the Portland Hospital in London. (The couple are also the parents of daughter Lilibet, born in June 2021.)

The Instagram post comes amid Harry’s ongoing feud with the royal family, mainly his father, King Charles III. Days prior to his son’s birthday, the 40-year-old Duke of Sussex mentioned his kids during an impassioned plea to reconcile with his family after losing his appeal in the ongoing battle to ensure security in the U.K.

“I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point,” he told BBC News on Friday, May 2, after his landmark loss in the security trial. “The things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything.”

Harry noted that he loves his country but doesn’t feel like his family is safe to return at the moment. (Harry and Meghan lost their government-funded security after separating themselves from the royal family in 2020.)

“I miss the U.K., I miss parts of the U.K., of course I do,” he added. “I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”

The royal family didn’t publicly wish Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Archie, a happy 5th birthday, but it wasn’t the first time the Sussexes weren’t acknowledged. “In recent years and certainly since King Charles III’s reign began in September 2022, we have only seen public messages from the royal family’s social media accounts for […]

Meghan has been more lax when it comes to offering details into her kids’ lives since returning to Instagram in January. However, both Archie and Lilibet’s faces are continuously covered on social media.

Just ahead of Archie’s birthday, the mother of two shared a black-and-white photo via Instagram on Saturday, May 3, which showed Harry walking with their two kids. Lilibet sat on his shoulders while he held Archie’s hand. Meghan didn’t caption the image.

“That man loves me so much. And, you know, look at what we’ve built,” Meghan said of her family during an April 28 appearance on the “Jamie Kern Lima” podcast. “We’ve built a beautiful life and we have two healthy, beautiful children.”
