Meghan McCain Reveals She Had a Mass in Her Breast Biopsied: ‘This Was a Scare for Me’

Meghan McCain is educating her followers after dealing with a health scare last week.

On Dec. 30, the former View host, 40, posted on Instagram and revealed that she found a mass on her breast, encouraging others to stay on top of their routine screenings.

“I had to get a mass in my breast biopsied last week and just got the news the test came back benign,” she wrote. “I can’t tell you how blessed, lucky and relieved I am but for any woman who follows this account or my work, PLEASE get your mammograms!!!”

“It is so important and vital and something I know a lot of us put off,” she continued. “I am 40 and this was a scare for me. Get your mammograms!!! Doctors, nurses, pathologists, the mammogram coordinators, all of these people are nothing short of selfless angels who walk among us and I am forever grateful to every single health care professional.”

“Wishing you all a happy, blessed, HEALTHY New Year! 🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️♥️” she ended.

“I went thru this last year. Double biopsy! So scary! So happy you are all good, friend! Such a great relief going into the new year! 🙏🏼❤️” Kelly Rizzo commented.

“Yes SOOOO important!!!! So glad it was nothing ❤️‍🩹🤍” one follower wrote, while another person added, “Super important message to get out there. I was not as lucky this year as you but so grateful my crap was found early. Thank you for pushing this on your platform.”

One in eight women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer, and mammograms are vital for early detection.

In May 2023, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force lowered the recommended age for screening for breast cancer after an increase in younger diagnoses. The task force stated that science now shows all women should start getting screened every other year at age 40, which could result in 19% more lives being saved.

In addition to staying on top of routine screenings, health officials advise women of all ages to practice “breast self-awareness,” which means becoming familiar with how a person’s own breasts normally look and feel, so they will be more likely to recognize anything out of the ordinary when doing a breast self-examination.
