Meghan Trainor and her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, both went on GLP-1 medications.
“We did 75 Hard after [our son] Riley was born and, man, did we crush,” Trainor, 31, quipped on the Thursday, April 10, episode of the pair’s “Workin’ On It” podcast. “Then, we heard more and more of our friends — and even our doctors — were on Mounjaro and Ozempic.”
The pop star decided to try Mounjaro because it “had less side effects” than other weight loss drugs. (GLP-1 injections are primarily used to help adults with conditions like type 2 diabetes manage their weight.)
“I was like, ‘I don’t want any of that,’ and ‘I know how to do it on my own,’” she explained. “I could do that, but when I asked my doctor, I was like, ‘Tell me everything.’ I did the research, and I felt safe.”

A perfect match. Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara first met in 2014, but it took the couple two more years before they gave their romance a shot. After meeting at a party in 2014, Trainor and Sabara didn’t cross paths again until a a double date with actress Chloë Grace Moretz and her then-boyfriend, Brooklyn […]
Sabara, 32, chimed in, “So, I did it, too.”
Trainor further stressed that she and Sabara, who have been married since 2019, already “do everything together,” which made a joint weight loss effort a natural fit.
“I also gained some [sympathy] pregnancy weight,” said Sabara, who shares sons Riley and Barry with Trainor. “We’ve been on this journey for a while and we learned how there are right ways to do it.”
Trainor and Sabara, who only take the “lowest dose” possible of Mounjaro, make sure to supplement the medication with frequent workouts and balanced, healthy meals.

Daryl Sabara gave an unfiltered tour of his and wife Meghan Trainor‘s house, which included a glimpse at her supply of laxatives. Sabara, 31, joined in on a TikTok trend with his Thursday, January 25, video, where he walked around the couple’s home. “I’m Meghan Trainor’s husband, of course I’m all about the bass. No […]
“We were like, ‘We have to make sure we don’t lose muscle that we worked so hard gaining all those years,’” Trainor said, adding that she has “no shame” taking the GLP-1. “We stay in the gym, we work out, we eat right, and we just noticed that we were less hungry.”
The couple have since learned many “little tricks” to overhaul their diets.
“I had no portion control,” Sabara quipped before Trainor added that he would eat “Cheesecake Factory”-sized servings, even of healthy foods.
“I’ve learned so much about portions,” Trainor added. “I’m like, ‘Remember how big your stomach is.’ I don’t want to bug him and I always do. He’s like, ‘Are you fat-shaming me?’ I’m like, ‘No, babe, I’m looking out for you.’ Our eyes are hungrier than our stomachs. I blame where we live [because] the portion sizes are ridiculous.”
To help, Trainor also replaced all of their kitchen plates with smaller versions.
“I learned all these little tricks that changed my life,” Trainor said. “I literally bought smaller plates ‘cause I’m like, ‘No, you can’t put too much rice on there.’ … I’m obsessed now with the science of when I work out and build muscle, you have to eat protein or else it’s not going to do anything.”
She added, “I’m really proud of myself for learning. It was really hard to do and I’m going to keep getting better and keep getting stronger, achieve things I never thought I could achieve and no one can stop me — not even mean comments.”
The Spy Kids actor has also been hitting the gym more, noting on Thursday that the couple’s joint workouts are “how [they] connect.”
