Meryl Streep’s Daughter Louisa Jacobson Says She Received a Lot of Support When She Came Out Last Year: ‘I Am So Lucky’ (Exclusive)

Louisa Jacobson is grateful for the support she received after going public with her relationship with girlfriend Anna Blundell.

Jacobson, 33, spoke with PEOPLE on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Human Rights Campaign 2025 Greater New York Dinner. There, she was awarded the HRC Visibility Award, celebrating her impactful work in expanding LGBTQ+ representation on- and off-screen.

She is the youngest child of Meryl Streep and Don Gummer, and goes by her first and middle name. The former couple share three other children: Henry Wolfe, 45, Mamie, 41, and Grace, 38.

Jacobson spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about how honored she felt to be gifted the award by the HRC, which is the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) civil rights organization. She also spoke about the recent support she received after publicly coming out in June 2024.

“I am so, so grateful and thankful to the HRC. I was surprised because I had only recently come out,” she told PEOPLE. “It’s such a brilliant opportunity to speak about visibility and what it means to this community and what it means to me.”

The Gilded Age actress said she’s received “so much support” from the community.

“I am so lucky to work in the industry that I do. That I’m in a community of artists who also identify as LGBTQ,” she told PEOPLE. “So it’s just a warm, lovely welcome that I am blessed to have.” Adding, “I don’t take that for granted.”

As for what she and Blundell are planning for Valentine’s Day, she told PEOPLE they’re going dancing together.

At the HRC event when Jacobson received the award, she gave a speech about how vulnerability serves as a strength, especially as an actress.

“To be visible is to be vulnerable. Unfortunately, vulnerability is often seen as a weakness. But in truth, it’s one of the most powerful tools that we have for connection,” she said.

“As an actor, I’ve learned that the most powerful performances happen when the actor allows themselves to be revelatory—when they drop the mask and stand in the raw truth of who they are.”

“It’s the same in life,” Jacobson continued. “The moments where we drop the mask and allow ourselves to be seen, those are the moments when we truly connect with others.”

The actress went Instagram official with her girlfriend on June 22. At the time, which was coincidentally her mother’s 75th birthday, she shared the sweet snapshot of herself with Blundell.

“blessed to be entering the Joyful New Era bb ❤️‍🔥🏳️‍🌈,” she wrote in the caption.
