Meryl Streep’s eldest daughter Mamie Gummer has filed for divorce, reports TMZ.
Gummer, 41, filed court papers on Thursday, February 6, to dissolve her six-year marriage to screenwriter Mehar Sethi, per the outlet, which said it had obtained the docs. The Good Wife actress cited irreconcilable differences for the divorce and listed her and Sethi’s separation date as May 6, 2023.
Gummer and Sethi married in 2019 and have two children, Peter, 5, and Mary, 3. The actress seeks joint legal and physical custody of the kids and spousal support, per TMZ.
Gummer was previously married to actor Benjamin Walker from 2011 to 2013.
The actress is the eldest of Streep and estranged husband Don Gummer’s three daughters. The former couple also share daughters Grace Gummer, 38, and Louisa Jacobson, 33, and son Henry Wolfe, 45.
Streep confirmed her separation from Don Gummer in October 2023. “Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart,” a rep for Streep, 75, told Us Weekly in a statement at the time.
Grace Gummer, meanwhile, divorced musician Tay Strathairn in 2020 after less than a year of marriage. She married record producer Mark Ronson in September 2021.
Earlier this month, Streep’s youngest daughter, The Gilded Age star Jacobson, talked about coming out after previously “hiding” in relationships with men.
Jacobson told Page Six that she was “hiding for so long, part of myself I always knew was there,” adding that she was in “straight relationships back-to-back” but after she took time to be single, she found the “part that [she] was hiding was really making itself known.”

The actress came out during Pride Month in June 2024. She shared her first official social media photos with her partner, Anna Blundell, on June 22.
Jacobson also said how important it was for her to share her story. “I think the more we see people like us, who we can relate to, who are following onto this path and stepping into their truth unapologetically, will inspire others that they can do the same, that their truths are OK and not to be ashamed of,” she explained.
