Mia Thornton Officially Exits ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’

Mia Thornton is officially saying goodbye to The Real Housewives of Potomac.

“With every new season comes a new beginning and I have some news to share. My family and I have made the decision to relocate to Atlanta, and with that, I will not be returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac next season,” Mia, 40, wrote via Instagram on Monday, April 21.

Alongside the announcement, Mia shared a series of photographs of her posing with a newspaper that read, “Mia Thornton Moves to Atlanta.” In one image, Mia stepped on a stack of papers that read, “Franchise Queen,” and “Coming Soon.”

“The past four seasons have been an unforgettable journey one filled with growth, lessons, and so many incredible memories. I want to thank Truly Original, Bravo, NBCUniversal, and Andy Cohen for believing in me and giving me the space to share my story,” she continued. “To my castmates: thank you for the laughs, the lessons, and the unforgettable moments. And to the amazing fans, your love and support has meant everything to me. I’ll always carry that with me.”

Phylicia J. L. Munn/Bravo The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Mia Thornton is weighing in on Karen Huger’s guilty DUI verdict. “Oh, my gosh. Listen, I always knew she was guilty,” Thornton, 40, said during the Sunday, January 26, episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “Sorry, I did.” Thornton noted that she’s “sad” […]

She concluded, “This next chapter is already full of exciting opportunities, and I can’t wait to take you all along for the ride. Big things are coming… ‘I don’t just make headlines — I make History. Atlanta, brace yourself. The empire has expanded. #LegacyInTheMaking.”

Mia joined season 6 of RHOP in 2021 and had been a cast member through season 9, which aired earlier this year. During her time on the series, viewers watched as she navigated a health scare and her marital woes with husband Gordon Thornton. (Mia and Gordon split in 2023 after 11 years of marriage.)

While the cast for RHOP season 10 has yet to be confirmed, it’s unlikely that costar Karen Huger will be returning. In February, Fox 5 DC reported that a judge ordered Karen to one year in jail. (Her official sentence is two years in jail with one year suspended.)

Karen was charged with a DUI and DWI, negligently driving a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner endangering property, life and person, as well as recklessly driving a vehicle after being involved in a March 2024 car accident. In December 2024, Karen was found guilty on nearly all charges, but not recklessly driving.

Mia, for her part, has weighed in on Karen’s case. “I always knew she was guilty,” Mia said during a January episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “Sorry, I did. It’s very, very sad. I really feel like if she would have just owned up to what she did, then we would not know.”
