  • On March 1, the NBA legend’s driver Tyler Reddick won the NASCAR Cup Series DuraMAX Texas Grand Prix, his third consecutive victory during the 2026 season
  • In securing the win, he became the first NASCAR driver to ever take home first place in the first three races of the season

Michael Jordan was on hand to watch his NASCAR driver make history with a third consecutive win at the NASCAR Cup Series DuraMAX Texas Grand Prix.

On March 1, 30-year-old Tyler Reddick took home top honors in the race, beating out second-place racer Shane van Gisbergen to claim the grand prize at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin.

His victory came after Reddick drove the Toyota co-owned by Jordan, 63, to wins at the Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Feb. 15, and the Autotrader 400 in Atlanga, Ga. on Feb. 22. On March 1, he became the first NASCAR driver to win the first three races of a season, according to The Associated Press.

“It’s one race, but it was so important,” Reddick told AP, which noted that Jordan celebrated the win with the 23XI pit crew. “It’s so fitting to get three in a row and make history.”

Jordan said that he was "proud" of his team, but gave a lot of credit to his co-owner Denny Halmin.

“I just put up the money,” he told AP, adding, “Denny’s done an incredible job building this team.”

Reflecting on Reddick's historic win, he told FOX Sports, "It's time for a change."

"And the guys feel the same thing. Tyler came in with the most pressure, I guess. Everybody expected him, or he had a chance to win three in a row. That's the hardest one to win, you know. And you know, he kept to his strategy, and the guys put together a great car," he said.

Now that the driver has made history, he can attempt to score a fourth consecutive win on Sunday, March 8, at the Straight Talk Wireless 500 at Phoenix Raceway in Phoenix, Ariz.

His latest victory marks Reddick's 11th overall in the league and his first time notching a second win at the same track, according to AP.

The racing team's trio of victories comes a few months after Jordan and Hamlin scored a legal victory by settling a lawsuit against NASCAR on Dec. 11, 2025, after an eight-day trial.

They joined the antitrust lawsuit — which claimed the organization’s revenue sharing system was “unfair” and did not provide teams with potential to turn a profit — in October 2024.
