Michael Pitt, Boardwalk Empire and Dawson’s Creek Star, Arrested on Sex Abuse Charges

Michael Pitt is facing legal trouble. 

The Boardwalk Empire alum was taken into custody in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 2 after being accused of sexual abuse and assault, according to arrest records viewed by E! News May 7. 

The allegations are in connection with four different alleged incidents in 2020 and 2021, per an indictment from the Brookyln District Attorney’s Office that was viewed by NBC News. 

During one incident, per the indictment, Pitt allegedly strangled someone. Additionally, on separate occasions in 2021, the Dawson’s Creek actor was accused of injuring someone with a four-by-four and a cinder block. (The indictment does not disclose how many people are accusing Pitt of the crimes or specify the nature of their relationships to him, according to the outlet.)

Pitt now faces nine charges: two counts of sexual abuse in the first degree; one count of a criminal sexual act in the first degree; one count of a criminal sexual act in the third degree; two counts of assault in the second degree; two counts of attempted assault in the second degree; and one count of strangulation in the second degree, per the court records viewed by E!.
