Fresh off celebrating her second wedding anniversary with husband Jean Todt on July 27, Michelle Yeoh is revealing the secret to their relationship.
The Oscar winner, 63, discussed her love life during an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE about her lead voice role in the upcoming English-language version of the Chinese blockbuster Ne Zha 2.
“We’ve been together for 21 years, and we’ve been married for two,” Yeoh says of her two-decade-plus relationship with the ex-Ferrari CEO, whom she met in June 2004 in Shanghai and got engaged to a month later.
Sharing the secret to their marriage, the Wicked and Everything Everywhere All at Once star explains, “What we say is, ‘Every day should be a celebration.’ Why do we wait for a special day?”
Yeoh also praised her husband’s attitude toward her busy schedule.
“I am so blessed because he’s so supportive of what I do. I love my work. This is my passion. He never turns around and says you spend a lot of time away from me, which I have sometimes, but he’s very understanding,” she says, before commenting on her travel plans on their anniversary. “On the day of our anniversary, I actually was flying.”

July 27 marked their two-year wedding anniversary, and on that day she posted an Instagram photo of them holding hands and smiling. She captioned the post, “Happy Anniversary ❤️🌹 ❤️ with love from Paris.”
In her chat with PEOPLE, Yeoh described Todt as “a romantic,” adding that “He doesn’t count by years. He tells me we’ve been together 7,000-[something] days. And if I really ask, he’ll give me hours and minutes too.”
Using numbers to mark their love timeline is quite fitting, seeing as their wedding program from two years ago also specified exactly how long they had been engaged before tying the knot.
“Today after 6,992 days on 27th July 2023 in Geneva, surrounded by loving family and friends, we are so happy to celebrate this special moment together,” the note on the program read.
After their wedding in Switzerland, the couple wed again in second wedding in December 2023 in Yeoh’s hometown of Ipoh, Malaysia.
Yeoh’s English-language version of Ne Zha 2 hits theaters on Aug. 22.
