Mom Captures Kids' Emotional Reactions to Finding Out She Welcomed Their Baby Sibling While They Were Away (Exclusive)

One mom is going viral for capturing the emotional moment she surprised her kids with their baby sibling.

Bethany Taylor, an Australia-based mom of three, tells PEOPLE that she was nine days past her due date with no signs of going into labor when her two kids — Ivy, 11, and Tyler, 13 — took a weekend trip to their grandparents' house for a family event. Taylor and her partner, Dean Pepper, 33, decided to have an early date night while the kids were away. Although they returned early and were well rested, the couple wasn't prepared for what happened next.

"At midnight, I woke up with contractions, and my labor had started. A few hours later, we headed to the hospital, and my labor was my longest one yet," Taylor, 34, recalls from her 16-hour labor experience with her baby boy. "Mylo arrived into the world at 4:20 p.m. via a natural birth with no complications."

The doting mom explains that she asked for her older children to stay at their grandparents' house a little longer, ambiguously telling them that she wasn't feeling well. They ended up heading straight to school from there, unaware that their baby sibling entered the world. That afternoon, Taylor's partner went to pick up the kids from school, leaving her waiting at home with anticipation to see their reaction.

"I felt a nervous [and] excited feeling as they were pulling into the driveway," she says.

In a now-viral video, Taylor shows her kids' shocked and emotional reactions to meeting their baby brother after they returned home from school. Her son is the first to walk through the door, and he looks from his baby brother to his mom before running to embrace her in a big hug. Her daughter follows closely behind and immediately bursts into tears at the sight of the little one.

"The kids didn’t know the gender at that time, and I was nervous about my daughter’s initial reaction because she really wanted a baby sister," she recalls of the moment. "My daughter later told me she loved the baby before she knew it was a boy, so it didn’t matter. This was the best and happiest moment of my life. I'm so happy I captured it."

Now, with her little one just 8 weeks old, Taylor says the newly minted family of five is doing well after some adjustments.

"It took a little bit to get used to having a baby in the family and him having to adjust to our busy lifestyle with teenage siblings that do a lot of sports," she admits. "Everyone just loves baby Mylo and being such a happy baby, he has slotted into our family perfectly."

As for Mylo's older siblings, Taylor says that both Ivy and Tyler have bonded with their baby brother in their own ways.

"Ivy loves to do things for him, like changing his nappy or clothes, and Tyler loves to play with him and just talk to him," she tells PEOPLE. "They both spend many hours making him smile and are currently trying to get him to giggle, [but he's] not quite there yet."

"Tyler keeps saying he can’t wait for him to be running around, so he can play sports with him," she adds. "Tyler and Ivy have always been very close with an amazing bond, so it’s so nice they are both bonding so well with their new baby brother."

Looking back at this sweet moment she captured, Taylor tells PEOPLE that she's "so happy" to receive all the love her family is getting. She also shares which specific parts of the video she loves above all.

"My favorite part is when Tyler kissed me on my head and when Ivy said 'I knew it' because I know she really did know [and] that she had the intuition," the doting mom says. "I am so happy to captured this moment and was able to share it with so many people."

"It makes me so happy to see how much love there is in our family, and I'm sure we will watch it over and over for years!" she adds. "I've really loved reading all the nice comments from people who have watched it around the world about how they can see how much love we have between us all and how we are doing a great job as parents raising the children."
