A Phoenix woman was arrested after doctors discovered her son had a skull fracture and other injuries when the boy was brought to a hospital.
The woman, identified as 24-year-old Dajsia Walker, was detained on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at an apartment in Phoenix and charged with two counts of child abuse, according to local outlets Arizona’s Family (AZ Family) and KOLD.
The arrest comes after Walker’s 3-month-old son was hospitalized on Dec. 26. The child’s father said he noticed the baby twitching on Christmas Day, and after it got worse, he called 911, according to the outlets, which cited court documents.

The baby was brought to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where healthcare staff diagnosed the boy with a right skull fracture, multiple brain bleeds and healing fractures on his ribs and a leg, per the outlets.
Police interviewed the child’s father who told them that the baby had been in the care of Walker, on Christmas Eve and part of Christmas Day when he had been away, according to AZ Family. He noticed the child twitching when they were at his parent’s home celebrating the holiday.
Walker also spoke to police and denied knowing how her child got hurt, per AZ Family. She also admitted to using marijuana, but initially denied doing cocaine. She reportedly told officers after a search warrant that she stopped using the addictive drug before her kids were born.
Police eventually conducted a hair test — which detects whether a person has used narcotics over the past three months — on Walker, and it came back positive for cocaine, per AZ Family.
In addition to this, Walker did not show up for two scheduled polygraph test appointments by police, per the outlet. The child’s father did show up for the test and passed.
