Haley Orrock is a stay-at-home mom and content creator known for her budget-friendly DIY projects, through which she gradually transforms her small home on her own.
With over 350,000 followers across her social media platforms, the young mother-of-two often posts content that resonates with everyday parents navigating real-life moments.
However, on May 29, 2025, Orrock shared what she believed was an innocent video of her son, Theo, and husband spending time together in the backyard – but it quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons.
Viewers were alarmed to see her young child sitting on a moving lawn mower while her husband used it to cut the grass.
“This went viral because I didn’t know about kids and lawn mowers…” Orrock wrote in an updated post.
Embarrassed by the original TikTok, she ended up taking it down after noticing “too many people weren’t reading the caption.”
“I realized I might be spreading a bad idea instead of awareness,” she added.
Instead, she reposted the video with the hope “of saving a few tiny fingers and toes – especially for the parents who grew up feral like me.”
Orrock urged other parents not to repeat her mistake and emphasized the importance of safety and caution, but also explained that she had grown up riding on mowers and didn’t know any better.
“Looking back, it seems so obviously dangerous,” she captioned the new video. “I’m just grateful I learned the risk before my baby got hurt.”
Nevertheless, there was a slew of conflicting comments under her new post, with most users questioning how Orrock didn’t realize it was such a big deal.
“You… didn’t know your toddler shouldn’t perch atop of a large motorized spinning blade?” one person commented.
“What’s terrifying to me is both mom AND dad didn’t realize this was a bad idea?!” another wrote.
Yet, a few followers appreciated Orrock’s honesty and her attempt to keep the video on her profile.
“Thank you for spreading awareness at just how unsafe this is,” one user commented. “My husband is a paramedic & has run on too many kids hurt by lawnmowers.”
Another thanked her “for learning and vowing to do better.”
Despite being a mother of a toddler and a newborn baby, Orrock still labels herself a “first-time mom” who is still learning from her children every day.
“Every stage with Theo is a first for me and honestly – I don’t know what I am doing most of the time,” she wrote on an Instagram story.
Orrock did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
