  • Shortly after the news of their death, Stacey’s mom Colleen shared a tribute to her late daughter on Facebook

Stacey Tourout’s mom is remembering her daughter and her daughter’s fiancé after they reportedly died in an off-roading incident on Aug. 7.

Yeoman’s and Tourout, who ran the YouTube channel Toyota World Runners where they documented their adventures for over 200,000 subscribers, died on Aug. 7, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported.

In a media release obtained by PEOPLE, the Kaslo Search and Rescue (SAR) confirmed that they had been called to the scene of a “serious motor vehicle rollover” at around 6:30 p.m. local time that day and that both individuals found at the crash site died.

“With unimaginable heartache, the families of Matthew Peter Yeomans and Stacey Tourout would like to advise that we lost them both tragically succumbing to injuries in an offroad accident on Aug 7, 2025 in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia that they loved so much,” wrote Colleen Tourout in an Aug. 11 post on Facebook.

“Please keep us and them in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this devastating end to an amazing Love Story,” continued Coleen’s tribute on Facebook. “They are together forever as we knew they would always be.”

Per the media release, Kaslo SAR manager Mark Jennings-Bates said that the couple was discovered by Silvercup Ridge, a mountainous area near Glacier National P.

“It was a challenging rescue and recovery for the team after an intensely busy few days,” said Kaslo SAR communications manager Mark Jennings-Bates, per the release. “The remote access, high altitude, and limited daylight all added complexity to an already difficult situation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those involved.”

According to the release, when the team arrived, one of the pair had no vital signs and the other was flown to a local hospital, where they died that evening.

The pair of content creators got engaged in April 2024 while on a road trip through the length of the Americas, per a Facebook post shared by Yeomans that month. In a video, Yeomans popped the question to his soon-to-be fiancée set against the backdrop of majestic South American mountains — drawing a ring on Tourout’s finger with a marker because he left the piece of jewelry back at their home in Canada.

“I asked Stacey to be my forever!” wrote the late influencer. “The moment was perfectly US.”

The duo first launched their YouTube channel in February 2020 with plans to “drive the longest motor-able road in the world” in their Toyota truck. Over the next five years, they amassed thousands of views documenting their off-roading adventures.

They shared their final video on July 31, which found Yeomans and Tourout’s off-roading in Vancouver Island, B.C. Additionally, on Instagram, the pair shared an update from Vancouver Island six days before the tragedy.

“Really just soaking up all of these Vancouver island summer juices,” they wrote. “Our first summer in a few years where we get to experience the seasons change and the joy the sun brings us soggy rainforest dogs as we come out of hiding.”

Following the news of their death, Yeomans and Tourout received an outpouring of love from other members of the adventure influencer community.

“You guys are legends,” commented Nicolas Chazee and Mathilde Vougny, known on Instagram as “Next Meridian Expedition.” “We’ll cherish forever following the Pan-American with you guys, chatting about the hotspots to check out and learning from each other!”

Josh and Vanessa, known as “Destined for Wild” on Instagram, also wrote: “We’re in disbelief to hear this tragic news. Rest in peace Matt and Stacey. You were such incredible people and inspired us so much. Our deepest condolences to your family and friends.”
