‘Mormon Wives’ Stars Joke About Getting ‘Cease and Desist’ After Running Into Taylor’s Ex Dakota

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast is seemingly choosing sides amid Taylor Frankie Paul‘s most recent drama with ex Dakota Mortensen.

Miranda McWhorter and Layla Taylor shared a TikTok on Tuesday, June 17, of themselves filming content before Dakota steps into the frame. The caption read, “When you run into your friend’s ex unexpectedly.”

The fun continued in the comments section, with Layla joking that they needed “help” because Dakota, 32, is “following” them. Miranda, 27, meanwhile, asked, “Should we get a cease and desist?”

Even Mayci Neeley weighed in after recently discussing her issues with Dakota, adding, “I dislike this.”

Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen‘s complicated romance was thrust into the spotlight on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives — and their relationship status remains unclear. The couple started dating before the show premiered on Hulu. Dakota was Taylor’s first public boyfriend after her divorce from husband Tate Paul due to a high-profile “soft […]

Dakota’s chance meeting with Taylor’s friends comes as the former couple continue to face ups and downs. Last month, Dakota clarified that he did not get anyone pregnant following the pair’s split despite online rumors otherwise.

“No babies on the way,” Dakota, who shares 12-month-old son Ever with Taylor, 30, wrote via TikTok. “I am not having a kid with anybody. I haven’t slept with anyone since I have dated Taylor until now. If anybody wants to try to prove that wrong, by all means be my guest.”

He continued: “I just wanted to clear the air because there’s a few girls out here that said they are even pregnant with my child. Lots of crazy stuff but anyways, no baby coming!”

Taylor also addressed the drama at the time, writing via TikTok that same day, “A girl claiming to be having his baby as I’m putting myself in timeout for actually being his bm [baby mama]. I think it’s a joke, I sure hope so.”

More recently, a TikToker posted a video poking fun at how “everyone thinks [I’m] Dakota’s new baby mama.” Taylor, for her part, replied in the comments section, “Flex it hahah I’m trying to hide the fact I’m one of his baby mamas.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has captured Taylor and Dakota’s tumultuous relationship since season 1 premiered in September 2024. The pair are currently not together but are focused on coparenting.

“We’ve obviously come a long way to navigate [coparenting],” Taylor, who also shares daughter Indy, 7, and son Ocean, 4, with ex-husband Tate Paul, told Us Weekly in a May cover story. “It’s different from my first husband because there’s obviously a friendship there. We adjusted. Whereas [with] Dakota, everything’s fresh. It’s something that we necessarily didn’t want to do but needed to separate.”

She added: “So it’s an adjustment and we’ve had to learn through the obstacles of this experience to do what’s best for our son. Of course when things are heightened, you’re breaking up and it’s not something you wanted and you just had a baby. It was not the prettiest experience, but currently we’ve come a long way.”

Dakota, meanwhile, revealed earlier this month that he is currently not on the best terms with Taylor.

“I know a lot of people from a viewer point of view [don’t understand that] having everything aired out to the world is a lot different than just going to a person you care about or your family and telling them something,” Dakota explained on the June 4 episode of “The Viall Files” podcast. “Like, you want to talk about fear, that’s the scariest feeling in the world.”

Dakota noted that filming a reality show hasn’t helped. “Then doing it with a show, you don’t have any control over it. If they’re missing something, it’s like that’s not how it was. That to me was really hard to grasp,” he said. “That was hard to understand. I was like, ‘I don’t want to be torched to the world for it. I just want to have a moment with you where I can talk to you. I want a safe place to talk.’ But that’s not the case.”
