Prime Video needs to renew Motorheads after the show ended season 1 with a fiery car crash, a possible death, major breakups and more.
During the finale, which premiered earlier this month, Zac (Michael Cimino) and Harris (Josh Macqueen) had their race, but it led to Harris’ car flipping over several times. Zac’s relationship with Alicia (Mia Healey) was also unclear after he helped Logan (Ryan Phillippe), Ray (Drake Rodger) and the others burglarize her home.
Caitlyn (Melissa Collazo) and Curtis (Uriah Shelton) addressed their feelings, but something from the past might prevent them from moving forward together. But all of that clouded in comparison to the teases that Christian Maddox may have been alive and well this entire time.
“Season 2 is going to be a complete dynamic shift. It’s going to flip the whole narrative on its head,” Cimino, 25, hinted during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. “Now Zac is technically the head honcho in town. There’s going to be a dynamic shift regardless of what happens with Zac and how he approaches it. Whether he internalizes it or if he actually is dealing with it is the big question mark.”
Motorheads “follows a group of outsiders in a once-thriving Rust Belt town as they form an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of automobiles.” Before the show premiered, the cast spoke to Us about the possibility of Christian still being alive — and who should play him.
“I would love it if it was Hayden Christensen,” Shelton, 28, shared while Cimino pitched Ethan Hawke. Macqueen, 23, suggested James Spader to Us, while Rodger, 26, circled back to his The Winchesters costar Jensen Ackles.
“I would love Jensen. He would be fun. I feel like Jensen and Ryan could play siblings,” Rodger added. “I just don’t know if Jensen could play Ryan’s younger sibling but [we can pretend].”
By the end of the season, Motorheads also left the option open for a prequel. While speaking to Us, executive producers John A. Norris and Jason Seagraves showed support for expanding the universe.
“We absolutely want to do a Motorheads prequel. I already know what I would call it. We want Motorheads prequel,” Norris teased while Seagraves added, “We want Motorheads: Germany. We want Motorheads everything.”
Keep scrolling for a breakdown of how the first season of Motorheads ended:
Zac
The season 1 finale called Zac’s future with Alicia into question since he betrayed her trust by helping Logan, Ray and the others rob her dad. He also finally got that race he wanted with Harris, but it didn’t end the way either of them planned.
Earlier in the episode, Zac was walking the street they would be racing on and noticed a crack that he remembered to avoid. Harris didn’t get the memo though and that crack caused his car to flip over multiple times before crashing — and catching on fire.
Caitlyn
After fighting her feelings for Curtis all season, Caitlyn finally told him how she felt. Their romance was short-lived though because Curtis told Caitlyn his dad was in the car the day of the robbery, which called their future together into question.
Curtis
The first season showed Curtis thinking his feelings for Caitlyn were unrequited. By the time they got on the same page, Curtis found out about his dad helping Caitlyn’s dad commit the robbery that caused Christian’s apparent death. Their last scene showed Curtis and Caitlyn unsure about whether they could move on from the revelation.
Marcel
The final scene with Marcel hinted that he would be spending the summer in New York with Brooke as roommates.
Harris
After a season-long feud with Zac, Harris appeared to squash some of that before racing with him. They were able to get to a place of respect, which was moments before Harris ended up in a potentially fatal car crash.
Ray
Curtis’ brother played a big part in the burglary at Alicia’s house where the group took several of her dad’s luxury cars.
Alicia
By the end of the season, Alicia ended her relationship with Harris. Her chemistry with Zac could have fizzled out as well after Alicia realized that he used the info about the garage code that she gave him as a way to help Ray and the others rob her dad.
Logan
The eldest Maddox brother’s past caught up with him and in the finale he took part in the robbery with Ray and the rest of his crew. His brother Christian’s whereabouts were also a big part of the finale, but it remained to be seen whether Logan knew that his sibling could be in hiding.
Christian
So is the legendary Christian Maddox actually alive? Unclear. The entire first season showed flashbacks of Christian’s evading the cops after that robbery. His car ended up at the bottom of the lake, but Logan revealed he saw Christian come out of the water. The Maddox brothers were planning to hide the money Christian stole — but he did that with his then-girlfriend Samantha (Nathalie Kelley) instead.
Logan and Samantha found out that the money has been taken from its secret hiding spot since Christian buried it. There was also a postcard from a location Christian loved that all added up to him being alive.
