Mumford & Sons Reveal They’re “Reintroducing” Themselves After 7 Years

Fans no longer have to wait for new Mumford & Sons music.

The British folk rock group—made up of Marcus Mumford, Ted Dwane and Ben Lovett—just released Rushmere, their first album since 2018. And with this new set of tracks, the group is taking a different approach to presenting it to fans, opting to perform in smaller venues before returning to stadium concerts.

“We wanted to start by connecting in a kind of intimate way with our core audience that we’ve been away from,” Marcus told Canadian TV show eTalk in an interview published March 28. “We’re kind of reintroducing ourselves to our audience again.”

The musician—who shares kids Evelyn Grace, 9, Wilfred, 7, and a 19-month-old with wife Carey Mulligan—also reflected on the group’s past success and explained their hope to use that as a blueprint for their new beginnings.

“Our rise as a band was fast, but it was still gradual,” Marcus, 38, continued. “We went pubs, clubs, theaters, academies, and then into the bigger rooms, like arenas and then stadiums. So, we wanted to get back in those intimate rooms.”
