Muse frontman Matt Bellamy filed for divorce from his wife, Elle Evans, after seven years of marriage.
Bellamy, 48, filed for divorce in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday, Aug. 12, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. In the filing, the “Uprising” singer cites “irreconcilable differences” as his reason for divorce, and requests sole custody of the couple’s two children, daughter Lovella, 6, and son George, 2. A date of separation is not listed.
TMZ first reported on the divorce filing.
Bellamy asked the court to award Evans spousal support in accordance with their premarital agreement, according to the filing. Evans, 46, has 30 days to respond to the filing, according to the summons documentation.
Evans told TMZ she planned to fight for custody of their children.
The British musician broke his silence on his split from the model in a June interview with The i Paper, in which he said they had been separated since summer 2025.
“Because it’s one of those situations that involves something that people wouldn’t normally think it is,” he said. “It was a set of really unexpected circumstances.”

“It’s the kind of thing no one really prepares for in life,” Bellamy added at the time. “It threw me off, and I had to prioritize looking after the kids and creating stability at home.”
Bellamy and Evans were engaged in December 2017 and tied the knot on Aug. 10, 2019.
Bellamy, known for his work as the lead vocalist, guitarist, pianist and songwriter for Muse, has also worked with rock supergroup The Jaded Hearts Club, and produced several solo albums, most recently 2021’s Cryosleep. The band’s music has also been used in several films, including their song “Supermassive Black Hole” in Twilight in 2008.

Evans, a model and actress, has appeared in music videos for Muse and Robin Thicke. She made an appearance in HBO’s Barry and appeared in the 2016 indie film The Love Witch.
Bellamy was previously engaged to actress Kate Hudson from 2011 to 2014, and they share son Bingham, 15.
Over the years, Evans developed a bond with Hudson, 47, and the two were photographed smiling together at an event in London in 2023.
