My dad never, ever stops moving.
On any given day, he’s up at the crack of dawn and going from one thing to the next. Groceries? They’ve been picked up and unpacked. The pool? It’s cleaned and free of leaves. Oh, and his buddies? He’s probably joined them for some appetizers and martinis. All this is to say, he moves around so much that his daily step count almost always exceeds 10,000.
So when he told me he was dealing with some heel pain (and right before his two-week Grecian vacation set with guided tours, sightseeing, and tagging along for my mom’s shopping adventures), I decided to get him some new sneakers — but not your traditional lace-up ones. I bought him the Kizik Men’s Lima Sneakers, which are “easy to walk in, easy to put on, and a very comfortable, good walking shoe,” he said.

My dad is more of a function-over-form kind of guy, meaning his shoes need to be comfortable and easy to slide on and off. This led me to the Kizik Men’s Lima Sneakers, which are made with the brand’s “HandsFree Labs technology.”
What’s so special about that, you ask? Since they’re slip-ons, my dad doesn’t have to bend over to jab his socks into his shoes, nor does he have to sit down to tie them — he can quite literally step into them within ten seconds. They feel like “walking on a soft mattress pad,” and they “bounce and breathe with you,” he added. They also have real laces, but thanks to their hands-free construction, they don’t need to be re-tied with each wear.
My dad put them to the test in Greece, where he did a lot of walking, hiking, and sightseeing. And not long after, he noticed that his heel pain began to dissipate. He didn’t have to break them in either, and when I asked if he got any blisters or pain, he replied, “none at all.”

Now, remember when I said my dad focuses on function over form? Well, my mom and I do not. In other words, we pretty much refuse to buy him clunky and chunky “dad shoes” — which these look nothing like. They’re so sleek you can’t even tell they’re slip-ons, and they go with a variety of outfits.

And good news, they make the same shoes for women, too. I just learned this myself, though apparently it’s nothing new. My coworker Madison Yauger was way ahead of me: “I’m a huge fan of the ease and accessibility of Kizik shoes. I have three pairs that I can easily step into for walking the dog, office commutes, and strolls around New York.”
“I also gifted a pair to a friend with a back injury, and they were the only pair she could wear without bending down — now she’s recovered, and they’re still her favorite sneakers for long hours during medical rounds,” she added.
It seems that everyone loves Kizik sneakers, so now’s a good time to pick up a pair for your partner or yourself to see why.
