My mom (a 75-year-old retired interior designer) is an indie film buff. The Tribeca Film Festival is one of her summer highlights, and the Hamptons International Film Festival is already penciled in to her schedule.
All this festival hopping requires comfortable and supportive shoes for walking and standing in line. And, per usual, my mom turned to Quince because, to her, style is just as important as comfort. Check out her favorite fall shoe picks, including minimalist sneakers, throwback loafers, and all-terrain booties.

Italian Leather and Suede Low-Profile Sneaker

$94 at Quince.com
My mom has several pairs of European-inspired sneakers, and this one ranks high on her list for comfort due to its flexible walking sole and extra arch padding. The cognac colorway says “fall” but can easily be worn year-round, too, and the shoes pair well with everything from jeans to tailored shorts. Almost every shopper said these minimalist sneakers are “so comfy,” and one said they’re “insanely cute,” too.
Italian Leather Penny Loafer

$110 at Quince.com
When she’s not in the mood for sneakers, my mom tosses on a pair of loafers for a more put-together “night on the town” type of look. This timeless penny loafer will do the trick with its Blake stitch construction, preferred by high-end Italian shoemakers. In this process, a single line of stitching runs through the upper, the insole, and directly through the outsole, without welts or extra layers. Fewer layers equal more long-term flexibility and comfort. How’s that for quality manufacturing?
Leather Everyday Sneaker

$84 at Quince.com
I have to include another sneaker in the mix because, as I said, my mom’s closet is full of them. Plus, Quince claims this shoe is “the best low-top in town.” It comes with a “super plush” Ortholite insole with extra padding and a 100 percent rubber outsole for durability. The iconic black colorway will carry her through fall, and as one shopper noted, “‘everyday sneakers’ is right,” as they’ve worn them nearly every day since their purchase. They especially liked the comfort, the quality, and the fact that these shoes didn’t break the bank.
Italian Suede Lug Sole Chelsea Boot

$130 at Quince.com
When the weather gets colder, my mom trades her sneakers for Chelsea boots, as they’re her go-to in the snow. Quince’s water-repellent suede boot is finished with a durable lug sole that offers traction and protection in foul weather. This boot comes in three fall colors and has an elastic gore on the side for slip-on ease and a “glove-like” fit.
