Nelly Furtado has entered 2025 feeling sexier in her skin than ever before.
Furtado, 46, took to social media on Sunday, January 5, to share two makeup-free photos of herself rocking a neon orange bikini. The Instagram carousel started with a front-on, full-length shot of the singer and closed with a selfie of Furtado snapping her frame from the side.
The “Maneater” hitmaker paired her post with a lengthy message that reflected on her experiences throughout 2024. “This year I became aware of the aesthetic pressure of my work in a brand new way , while simultaneously I experienced new levels of self -love and genuine confidence from within,” Furtado began before recalling that she took “legal action against a few charlatans” who were allegedly “selling health and beauty myths about me.”
Furtado offered no further details into the legal action before shifting into the subject of her appearance and revealing some recent dental work. “For whoever cares, I have never had any face or body surgeries or augmentation, besides for veneers on the top row of my teeth, quite recently,” Furtado wrote. “So far, I have not had any face or lip injections or fillers of any kind.”

She then discussed some long-held beauty secrets, including an “old school facialist” Furtado began seeing when she was 20 and drinking “a lot of water” plus sleeping on her back to ensure she looks fresh on red carpets and while professionally photographed.
“Sometimes on the red carpet or at photo shoots my makeup artist uses face tape to give my eyes, skin and makeup more lift,” Furtado also revealed in the post. “Sometimes my stylist uses body tape to give a certain look to different silhouettes. Body makeup can also sometimes be contoured to achieve a certain look. Makeup can do magical things! So can great eyebrows! So can a great hairstylist!”
Furtado — who shares daughter Nevis Gahunia with ex Jasper Gahunia and another daughter and son (whose names haven’t been publicly revealed) with ex Gerard Damien Long — added that she is proud of the “spider veins” her body possesses. “They remind me of my mom and aunties and life so I think that’s why I haven’t parted with them so far ❤️.”
The musician concluded her candid post with an encouraging message to her fans. “Express yourself freely, celebrate your individuality and know that it’s perfectly OK to be OK with what you see in the mirror, and it’s also OK to want something different,” she wrote. “We are all cute little humans just bouncing around the earth looking for hugs.”
