Nicola Peltz Beckham is showing love for her mom, Claudia Peltz, amid the ongoing tensions that Nicola and her husband, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, are experiencing with his extended family.
On May 30, Nicola shared an Instagram Stories post that showed text on the screen reading “I would choose my mom to be my mom in every lifetime. again, and again, and again.” It also included a small red heart.
Nicola’s message comes after a source told PEOPLE on May 29 that Brooklyn’s mother, Victoria Beckham, 51, allegedly hijacked a dance at the couple’s 2022 Palm Beach, Fla., wedding — even though the couple had been planning on dancing to the song together.

“Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding,” the source told PEOPLE. “Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, ‘The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up … Victoria Beckham!'”
The source claimed that the new bride allegedly “felt that Victoria ruined her wedding, and couldn’t understand why.”
But a source who attended the wedding told PEOPLE that the evening played out differently.
The source said, “Nicola and Brooklyn had their formal first dance early in the evening and she also had the traditional first dance with her father.” At the time, the Daily Mail reported the couple had their first dance to “Only Fools Rush In,” made famous by Elvis Presley and performed by a live singer at the reception. Their second dance, the outlet reported, was to the Ben E. King classic “Stand By Me.”
The source who attended the wedding said Anthony’s performance came much later in the evening: “Later on, when everyone was casual, Marc Anthony performed and got people dancing. Brooklyn and Victoria danced, David and Harper danced, and everyone had a great time.”
Another insider familiar with the matter said the wedding tension has been part of a pattern of an ongoing rift, claiming that Brooklyn and Nicola have been trying their best to remain on friendly terms with his parents.
“They’ve tried to make peace, but every time they finally have a happy moment, it all falls apart again,” the insider said, adding, “Brooklyn feels torn. It’s his family and blood, but he’s always had a complicated relationship with his dad. A lot of their relationship has felt like ‘business.’”
A source also told PEOPLE that the long-standing rumors that Nicola and Victoria were at odds over Nicola’s wedding dress did have some truth to them.
“When Nicola and Brooklyn got engaged, Victoria told Nicola that she’d love to make her wedding dress, and Nicola said it would be her honor, that she would love to wear one of her originals,” the source said, adding that everyone thought it would be a special added touch to their big day.
However, the source claimed that as time went by, it became clear that it wasn’t a priority for Victoria, and allegedly Victoria called Nicola’s mother — not Nicola herself — to tell her she wouldn’t be making the dress after all.
“Nicola was painted as a brat for not wearing Victoria Beckham at the wedding,” the source said, noting that Nicola had worn Victoria’s designs to many events. “She’d gone to a ton of Victoria Beckham fashion shows and events in Victoria’s clothing. She even wore Victoria Beckham to her Lola movie premiere.”
However, a second insider told PEOPLE that the dress situation is “far from the truth.”
“A quick Google search will show how many times this pointless story has been recycled to try and paint Nicola as somehow a victim,” the source said. “As ever, the Beckhams have stayed above it all despite constant attacks through the media. It’s sad as they love their son and they have all tried so hard with Nicola but it’s become impossible.”

On May 29, Cruz Beckham, Brooklyn’s 20-year-old brother, shared a cryptic Instagram Stories post of his own, alluding to the tension in the family. Per Page Six, Cruz posted a close-up image of what appeared to be the top of his hair along with text reading, “It takes 43 muscles in your face to frown, and 17 to smile.”
“Be kind and tell the truth,” he concluded, adding a series of pointing emojis.
In early May, a source originally told PEOPLE that Brooklyn and Nicola were navigating strain between themselves and Brooklyn’s parents.
“There are tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family,” the insider shared. While the pair have been noticeably absent from the Beckhams’ recent functions,” the source said, “The relationship is definitely not beyond repair. They love and are always there for him. They’re just hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life.”
