Ocean Spray is looking into claims that customers received cans of water instead of jellied cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving.
The company told PEOPLE in a statement that it was “aware of a few reports about cans containing water instead of cranberry sauce, and we’re looking into how this may have happened.”
“Millions of families enjoyed their cranberry sauce this holiday season, but even one can of sauce not meeting expectations matters to us,” the company continued. “We’ve reached out to the folks who shared these videos to learn more and make it right.”
This comes after a video went viral on TikTok — amassing over 10 million views and over 500,000 likes in less than five days — allegedly show a woman who already opened two cans of Ocean Spray full of water unseal a third can, which, once again, had clear liquid in it.
“My best friend opened up cans of water instead of cranberry sauce 🤣🤣@Ocean Spray Inc. what is going on???” the TikToker user captioned the clip.
The woman was not the only person who this allegedly happened to. On Facebook, another woman showed herself opening the Ocean Spray product with a can opener and flipping the top open only to find clear water inside.
“See that… water in the so-called cranberry sauce… water,” the woman said in the clip as she showed the can to the camera. She then moved to wash out the product in the sink followed by another can, which also had water.
She captioned the video, “This was my ocean spray cranberry sauce yesterday… 4 cans…who else had this happen?”
In response to others who mentioned that she may have opened the cans the wrong way, she wrote, “The problem is not with opening the cans!!! Please watch the entire video, the cans were filled with water…”
In a post on X, a separate user asked the company, “@OceanSprayInc why !!! Did I buy 8 cans of water!!!??? With a cranberry sauce label on it ? It’s not thanksgiving without a TURKEY AND CRANBERRY SAUCE !!!!”

In response to the user on X, Ocean Spray wrote, “We are sorry to hear that and would be happy to help” and shared a number to reach their company at.
This reportedly wasn’t the only mishap some Thanksgiving shoppers had. Another viral TikTok video posted over the Thanksgiving holiday — which has garnered over 2.9 million views — showed one customer opening a can of Del Monte green beans and instead finding beats inside.
“Trying to finish up my Thanksgiving prep and was supposed to be making green beans wrapped in bacon. These are not green beans! Two different cans and in the trash it went!” they captioned the mishap.
