Breast cancer survivor Olivia Munn is opening up about her Your Friends & Neighbors costar Amanda Peet’s own journey with the illness.
During a PEOPLE in 10 interview about season 2 of their Apple TV+ show, Munn, 45, was asked about her castmate’s cancer diagnosis, which Peet, 54, revealed publicly for the first time in a March 21 essay in The New Yorker.
“She told me last year that she was diagnosed, and I was so relieved she found it at such an early, early stage,” says Munn of Peet, who was diagnosed in 2025 and kept it private until last month.

Munn continues, “She found it at almost the earliest you can find it. She really was given a gift of finding it so early that she doesn’t have to do all the treatment and all the stuff you have to do for years and years to come.”
“She’s incredibly lucky, and it’s another reminder that early detection saves lives,” concludes Munn, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023.
In her essay in The New Yorker, Peet wrote that she found out she had breast cancer while both of her parents were in hospice.
“My sister called: our father was about to die,” Peet recalled. “Our parents, long divorced, were both in hospice, on opposite coasts. Our mother’s had started in June, but our father’s was only a week in, so we hadn’t expected him to go first.”

The actress added, “I flew to New York. I didn’t make it before my father took his last breath, but I got to see his body before it was taken from his apartment. … As soon as my dad’s corpse was out of sight, I was free to panic about my cancer again.”
Peet received her “first clear scan” in January, and days later, Peet’s mom, who had Parkinson’s disease, died in the hospice with her by her side.
