One of Them Days is reportedly getting a part two!
On Wednesday, June 4, Variety exclusively confirmed that the Sony Pictures comedy starring Keke Palmer, 31, and SZA, 35, (born Solána Imani Rowe) was returning with a sequel.
The Issa Rae-produced film is in early development at TriStar Pictures, with most of the creative team from the original project set to return, according to the outlet.
One of Them Days saw Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) — two best friends and roommates — strapped for cash, trying to chase their dreams and simultaneously make their rent while living in Los Angeles.
Things get a bit harder for the pair once they find out Alyssa’s boyfriend used their rent money. They must now go to extremes “in a comical race against the clock to avoid eviction and keep their friendship intact,” per a synopsis provided by Variety.
The original film premiered in theaters in January 2025 and went on to gross more than $50 million worldwide. It was also a streaming hit, spending three weeks in Netflix’s top 10 movies list, the outlet reported.
Directed by Lawrence Lamont, the film featured appearances from the likes of Maude Apatow, Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James and Katt Williams.
Palmer’s mother even added to the movie magic by making a cameo.
“She killed that,” Keke said of mom Sharon Palmer in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in January.
“It just made me so happy,” the Nope actress continued. “Yes, my mom showed up and showed out. She was up in there telling the other landlord to put her door back on.”
In the referenced scene, the Palmer matriarch is credited as “Irate Tenant.”
“Make sure you look out for that sneak peek of Sharon Palmer, the original,” Keke said proudly, adding that it makes her “so happy to share everything with my mom.”
One of Them Days marked SZA’s acting debut. Two years earlier, she and Keke met on their December 2022 episode of Saturday Night Live.

“Every day, 12 hours of real-life conversation. It was like a crash course, like a speed date but very intense,” the “Good Days” singer told PEOPLE. “We actually liked each other. We was gonna get married at the end. I was gonna say ‘I do.’ ”
It is still unclear which members of the cast will return for the sequel. Plot details also remain a mystery.
One of Them Days is currently streaming on Netflix.
