One person was critically injured after a truck plunged off a New Mexico interstate, authorities said.
Albuquerque Fire and Rescue said it was dispatched on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 4, to the intersection of Tramway Boulevard and Interstate 40 concerning a vehicular crash involving a truck that “went off the bridge” and fell onto the boulevard below.
At the time, the truck was towing a travel trailer, authorities said. The incident involved two people. One of them sustained critical injuries and has not been identified at this time.
Due to the severity of the damage, one person had to be extricated while the other person managed to remove themselves on their own, Albuquerque Fire and Rescue said.
One person was taken to the hospital, the department said. The cause of the accident is unknown.
“[Albuquerque Police Department] will remain on scene to conduct their investigation. No additional information available at this time,” the agency said.
Albuquerque Fire and Rescue’s Facebook post showed photos and video from the crash site showing the mangled upside-down truck with at least one of its headlamps still blinking and surrounded by debris.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation said that because of the crash, traffic was closed on the right lane of westbound I-40 at Tramway, resulting in delays, NBC affiliate KOB reported.
