For one Oklahoma-based toddler, it was love at first wash.

Shelby Cobble, a 31-year-old mom, had no idea that she was jumpstarting a new obsession for her son Prescott, 3, when she and her husband Zac, 32, purchased a new set of front loaders for the house. She tells PEOPLE her son became attached almost immediately.

"We recently got a new set of front loaders and ever since we did that first load, he was hooked!" she tells PEOPLE.

In a video shared on her Instagram, the doting mom poked fun at her son's obsession with washing machines. In text over a clip showing Prescott eating a birthday cupcake while he watched his new toy washing machine spin, she jokingly wrote, "Some kids want iPads or bikes or games for their birthday. Ours wanted a washing machine."

"His hyper fixation is anything that spins…specifically the washer & dryer 🤣," she wrote in the caption of the video. "Needless to say, we are never behind on laundry 🤪."

When searching for birthday gifts for her son online, Shelby explains she and her husband were looking for something he would absolutely love.

"When we were browsing online, this [washing machine] popped up and we knew we had to order it!" she tells PEOPLE.

Shelby believes the spinning motion of the machine, as well as the water and bubbles, is the reason why her son is infatuated with washing machines. "He loves anything that spins," she tells PEOPLE.

In addition to the washing machine, the mom of two tells PEOPLE her son has had a connection to other household appliances throughout his short life.

"The washer is his favorite, but when he was younger, he absolutely loved the microwave too," Shelby shares.

"It's been wild! Everyone is so sweet and supportive," she says of the reaction to her video. "It's fun seeing how many other parents have kids obsessed with random things too."
