Pete Davidson is getting parenting tips from Machine Gun Kelly!
Father-to-be Davidson 31, shared the parenting advice he’s received from his pal as he was joined by girlfriend Elsie Hewitt at the Los Angeles premiere of The Pickup on Sunday, July 27, marking the couple’s first red-carpet appearance since their baby announcement.
“He’s the best dad ever,” the actor and comedian told PEOPLE of Kelly, 35. “He flies back and forth to Cleveland twice a week just to see his daughter play volleyball. And he’s just always with his kids, and it’s just such a beautiful thing to see.”
Kelly is dad to two daughters: 16-year-old Casie, whom he shares with ex Emma Cannon, and 4-month-old Saga, whom he shares with ex Megan Fox.
“It’s his favorite thing. And he’s like, ‘This is going to be your favorite thing,’ ” Davidson further reveals of Kelly’s views on parenthood. “So I’m really excited.”

The former Saturday Night Live star adds of imminent fatherhood, “I’m just excited to take care of the little one. The second I found out the news, I was like, ‘Oh wow, what I do is just a job.’ ”
“I realized I was kind of basing my happiness on work, which is ridiculously unhealthy,” Davidson continues. “So it gave me this weird sense of calmness, where this is just a job and now I have someone to do it for.”
Davidson adds that he’s also looking forward to having play dates with his friend and father of two Kelly (real name Colson Baker).
“We’re going to have awesome play dates,” he says. “Yeah, that’s [going to be] a cool play date.”
At the premiere on Sunday, Davidson and Hewitt, 29, made an affectionate appearance on the red carpet as the mom-to-be showed off her growing baby bump in a form-fitting long black dress.
Hewitt confirmed that she and Davidson are expecting their first child together on Instagram July 16. Kelly also shared his excitement about having future playdates with the couple as he commented underneath the post, “These playdates bout to hittttt.”
The couple’s baby announcement came after sources confirmed to PEOPLE that the pair were dating in March and that they had moved in together in May.
A source previously told PEOPLE that Davidson and Hewitt “cannot wait to welcome their baby.”
“He’s grown up a lot, and he’s so excited about this next chapter as a dad,” the insider said. “He’s more intentional about who he lets into his life now, and with Elsie, it was never about headlines or the spotlight, and that’s exactly what he needs.”
