Prince Harry shared candid details about the “challenging” conversations he had with his children about the Invictus Games.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, founded the sporting tournament for injured or sick servicemen and women in 2014 after spending a decade in the British army.
Speaking to People at the Invictus Games 2025, held in Whistler and Vancouver, Canada, Harry opened up about how he explained the competitors’ injuries to his kids, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
“They are fascinated,” Harry said in an interview published on Wednesday, February 12. “It’s a very interesting conversation to have with your kids — to explain why that person is missing a leg, why that person is missing an arm, why do they look the way they do. It’s challenging but important.”

“Our kids are still so young, but Archie, especially, is asking those questions,” Harry said. “As any parent knows, once you open that door and those questions are asked, or that conversation starts, more and more doors start opening.”
“And then he starts asking, ‘How did they get injured? What’s a mine? What’s all this?’ It becomes opening Pandora’s box, to some extent, especially with kids this age, because they have no filter, and they’re just so curious and so inquisitive!” Harry said.
“They want to know more, more, more,” he continued.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Vancouver for the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games on Saturday, February 8. After attending multiple events, rubbing shoulders with famous faces, and trying snow tubing for the first time, Meghan Markle returned home to Montecito to be with her children on Tuesday, February 11.

In an update to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, the duchess shared a photo of sweet treats and souvenirs she had taken from the event, including two bags with her children’s names on them. “A taste of Canada and The Invictus Games for our little ones!” Meghan wrote. “Cheering you on from home!”
The closing ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 16, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver and will feature performances from Jelly Roll, Barenaked Ladies, and The War and Treaty.
