Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Son Prince Louis Flashes a Toothy Grin for His 7th Birthday

Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton released an adorable new image of their youngest son, Prince Louis, to celebrate his 7th birthday.

Louis, who turns 7 on Wednesday, April 23, can be seen flashing a toothy grin in the photo, taken by photographer Josh Shinner and released on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media accounts.

“Wishing Prince Louis a very Happy 7th Birthday,” the caption reads, alongside a cake emoji.

The new image marks a break in tradition for William, 42, and Kate, 43, who release new photos of Louis, Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9, every year for their birthdays.

However, the photos are usually taken by Kate, a self-described “amateur photographer.” Several weeks after announcing her cancer diagnosis in 2024, Kate shared a new photo she had taken of Louis for his 6th birthday.

The royal shared photos she had taken of George and Charlotte for their birthdays last year and in previous years. Similarly, in 2022, Kate photographed Queen Camilla for the cover of the U.K’s Country Life magazine.

Louis’ birthday isn’t the only milestone the family is due to celebrate in the coming weeks. The Prince and Princess of Wales will mark their 14th wedding anniversary on April 29 with a two-day trip to Scotland, the country where they met as students at the University of St Andrews.

William and Kate plan to undertake royal engagements in the Scottish Highlands on the Isles of Mull and Iona on April 29 and April 30, Kensington Palace announced on Tuesday, April 22.
