Prince William stepped out for his first solo appearance less than a week after his uncle, the former Prince Andrew, was arrested.
On Wednesday, Feb. 25, the Prince of Wales, 43, visited the Francis Crick Institute in London in advance of its 10th anniversary celebration.
While at the institute, which is a pioneering British center for research in biomedicine, William met with researchers, doctors and students, and received a tour of one of the world’s foremost electron microscopy facilities.

Prince William has had a longstanding interest in scientific and medical research, having served as president of the Royal Marsden, a leading cancer research hospital, since 2007, and as patron of the appeal to create The Fleming Centre, a new research hub dedicated to tackling antimicrobial resistance.
William’s outing comes days after he attended the BAFTA awards at the Royal Festival Hall in London and walked the red carpet with wife Kate Middleton in a surprise appearance — their first at the annual awards show in three years.
William wore a burgundy velvet jacket for the occasion while Kate, 44, was coordinated in a floor-length blush gown.
On the red carpet, which was shut down for the royal pair, Kate and William were heckled by an attendee, who yelled out: "Is the monarchy in peril?"

Moments later, William was asked whether he had seen the nominated film Hamnet, to which he replied, “I need to be in quite a calm state—and I’m not at the moment. I’ll save it.”
The tone later shifted in a lighter, behind-the-scenes moment, when images taken by royal photographer Andrew Parsons showed the couple giggling together in an elevator backstage at the event.

Three days before, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested in Sandringham on his 66th birthday.
The Prince and Princess of Wales spent much of the last week with their children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — who were on a school break. They had been staying at their country home in Norfolk, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk, which is on the same royal estate where Andrew has been living.
Andrew was arrested at Wood Farm on Feb. 19, around six miles from William and Kate's home.
